Quand je dis artistes je parle de quelque chose de périmé; de cette race romantique destinée à disparaître dans un monde que j'appelle le monde matière. Je fais partie de cette espèce. C'est un malheur et c'est tous les bonheurs. C'est avoir mille palais pour goûter l'infini des délices de la vie...

Avec Amédé, le personnage d'Alma revient pour nous raconter une histoire de camaraderie entre deux cowboys qui s'occupent de leurs troupeaux à leur façon. Georgette LeBlanc n'a pas fini d'étonner en nous transportant dans un univers tumultueux qui s'étend de la Louisiane jusqu'au Grand Texas, où la musique et la chair ne font qu'un.

Un recueil de poésie peut-il se lire comme un roman ? Certainement. L'héroïne de ce recueil nous fait découvrir une vaste galerie de personnages qui gravitent autour d'elle, à commencer par Pierrot, son homme. Les effets de la Crise économique de 1929 et de la Seconde Guerre mondiale sur un petit village acadien dans les bois de la Baie Sainte-Marie sont décrits à travers les gestes quotidiens de cette femme qui se transforme de poème en poème. Écrit entièrement en langue acadienne de la Baie Sainte-Marie, ce premier recueil de Georgette LeBlanc démontre un savoir-faire d'une très grand finesse, une profonde analyse des sentiments humains et un respect absolu pour les mots.

Georgette LeBlanc revient en force avec un quatrième livre en 10 ans, un « roman en vers libres » évoquant à sa manière le grand incendie de 1820 qui a détruit une vingtaine de maisons et autant de granges à la Baie Sainte-Marie, tel que raconté dans le Journal de Cécile Murat, une œuvre de fiction publiée en 1950 par l'historien acadien Alphonse Deveau. Georgette LeBlanc propose sa propre vison des évènements avec ironie, audace et sensualité. Des personnages colorés, fortement esquissés, de chair et de mots, prennent vie d'une scène à une autre, et en plein 21e siècle, sous le regard dubitatif des médias de la métropole. L'auteure d'Alma est parvenue en très peu de temps à l'élaboration d'une langue musicale et séduisante qui lui est propre et dont la motte d'argile à modeler est le français particulier aux Acadiens du sud-ouest de la Nouvelle-Écosse. Le Grand Feu ne peut faire que braquer quand Georgette LeBlanc attise les braises de son imagination.
