The Sedimentology of Chalk describes processes that caused the rhythmic, vertical variation in grain size, structures and authigenic mineral concentrations. Special attention is given to Late Cretaceous and Early Tertiary, subtropical, shallow marine, fine-grained, detrital bioclastic carbonates of northwest Europe.
