As a result, these Special Forces SERE experts made Field Manual 3-05.70 one of the best military survival guides ever written! FM 3-05.70 Survival covers topics such as: The psychology of survival; Survival kits; Survival planning; Survival medicine; Shelter; Water; Firecraft; Food; Wild edibles; Poisonous plants; Dangerous animals; Improvised weapons; Tools; Desert survival; Jungle survival; Cold weather survival; Survival at sea; Expedient navigation; Signaling; Evasion; Movement in hostile areas; And much, much more! This training circular (TC) is one of a series that describes an opposing force (OPFOR) for training U.S. Army commanders, staffs, and units. See the References section for a list of other TCs in this series. (Other publications in the former Field Manual [FM] 7-100 series will be converted to TCs as well.) Together, these TCs outline an OPFOR than can cover the entire spectrum of military and paramilitary capabilities against which the Army must train to ensure success in any future conflict. Applications for this series of TCs include field training, training simulations, and classroom instruction throughout the Army. All Army training venues should use an OPFOR based on these TCs, except when mission rehearsal or contingency training requires maximum fidelity to a specific country-based threat or enemy. Even in the latter case, trainers should use appropriate parts of the OPFOR TCs to fill information gaps in a manner consistent with what they do know about a specific threat or enemy.
To fight your enemy, you have to know your enemy! The US Army's Training Circular 7-100.3 Irregular Opposing Forces is used to provide a doctrinal framework for opposing forces (OPFOR) training in an irregular warfare operating environment. Irregular OPFOR are typically, guerrillas, narcos, terrorists, militias and protesters. The manual provides guidance on how these types of enemies organise and operate. Printed in easy to read 6x9 paperback format. For more like this, look for the distinctive OCP camouflage covers.

Field Manual (FM) 3-76, Special Operations Aviation, describes the core activities, capabilities, limitations, command and control (C2) relationships, employment principles, and operational considerations of Army special operations aviation (SOA). It delineates unique capabilities, limitations, and requirements when supporting a standing joint special operations task force (JSOTF) or a geographic combatant commander during a regional operation. FM 3-76 establishes doctrine for operational employment of aviation logistics and sustainment, and command and support relationships. The manual identifies requirements of the Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR) in different levels of conflict and throughout the duration of operations. This manual explains short- and long-term employment and execution concepts for the SOAR, including support, sustainment requirements, and relationships. The manual provides doctrinal guidance to the SOAR commander for employment of the SOAR in support of special operations (SO). The employment guidance considerations and the command and support responsibilities apply to the special operations forces (SOF) and conventional commanders and their staffs.
US special operations forces typically make use of some of the most sophisticated military and intelligence gear available. But sometimes a "no tech" solution is the right one. So, for example, Special Forces "may find themselves involved in operations in rural or remote environments... using pack animals," including horses, donkeys and mules. "Pack animal operations are ideally suited for, but not limited to, conducting various missions in high mountain terrain, deserts, and dense jungle terrain." This Army Special Forces manual, "FM 3-05.213 Special Forces Use of Pack Animals" provides instruction and doctrinal guidance for using pack animals in training and combat missions. "This manual provides the techniques of animal pack transport and for organizing and operating pack animal units. It captures some of the expertise and techniques that have been lost in the United States Army over the last 50 years."... The manual provides the characteristics of each of the various pack animals, some rudiments of veterinary care, and miscellaneous lore
Army Techniques Publication (ATP) 3-05.20, Special Operations Intelligence, provides the United States (U.S.) Army special operations forces (ARSOF) commander and his staff a broad understanding of intelligence support to, and the capabilities of, select ARSOF units to collect information and actionable intelligence. This publication also provides guidance for commanders who determine the force structure, budget, training, materiel, and operational requirements needed to prepare organic military intelligence assets to conduct their missions.
Field Manual (FM) 3-75, Ranger Operations, establishes doctrine for Army Special Operations Forces (ARSOF) Ranger operations. It describes Ranger roles, missions, capabilities, organization, mission control, employment, and sustainment operations across the range of military operations. This manual is presented in easy to read 6x9 paperback format. Proudly printed in the USA. For more like this, look for the distinctive OCP camouflage covers.
A US Special Forces manual, Army Techniques Publication 3-05.1 Unconventional Warfare defines the term Unconventional Warfare as: Activities conducted to enable a resistance movement or insurgency to coerce, disrupt, or overthrow a government or occupying power by operating through or with an underground, auxiliary, and guerrilla force in a denied area. ATP 3-05.1, Unconventional Warfare, is the US Army Special Forces' doctrinal foundation for Unconventional Warfare operations and is the broadest and most comprehensive United States Government doctrinal publication on the subject of Unconventional Warfare ever published. The manual details Unconventional Warfare fundamentals, activities and the considerations involved in planning and executing Unconventional Warfare operations in any political, ideological or physical environment. Every US Special Forces soldier is trained to not only fight guerrillas, but also to raise their own guerrilla bands, secret undergrounds and insurgent or resistance groups. This manual is the foundation for that training. Of particular interest to historians and "truth" researchers is a historical exploration of past US-sponsored guerrilla and resistance groups. It discusses the CIA's secret guerrilla resistance force in Tibet from the 1950s to the 1970s as well as the "stay-behind" groups established in Scandinavia and Europe during the Cold War in the event of Soviet invasion. The Italian component of the "stay-behind" program was known as Operation Gladio and it remains unacknowledged by official NATO sources. Published for the first time, this manual is in easy to read 6x9 perfect bound paperback format. For more like this, look for the distinctive OCP camouflage covers.
Field Manual (FM) 3-05.212 presents a series of concise, proven techniques and guidelines that are essential to safe and successful waterborne operations. It provides a consolidated reference for training and employing Special Forces (SF) and Marines in all types of waterborne operations. Waterborne operations involve the employment of forces from waterborne platforms to meet objectives ashore; they may be in support of or independent from amphibious operations. This FM covers the entire spectrum of waterborne operations as they apply to United States (U.S.) Army SF and U.S. Marines. It provides detailed operational planning considerations for the following: small boat operations, surface swimming operations, dive operations, submarine operations (SUBOPS), riverine operations, and air operations (AIROPS). It also provides information on a variety of associated subject areas. The most common measurements used in waterborne operations are expressed throughout the text and in many cases are U.S. standard terms rather than metric. Appendix A consists of conversion tables that may be used when mission requirements or environments change.
The purpose of Training Circular (TC) 3-21.60 is to standardize visual signals and to serve as a training reference. It is a guide. It does not cover all visual signals used in the Army, only those that are commonly used. Signals used with equipment or during operations are in manuals that relate to such operations. Efficient combat operations depend on clear, accurate, and secure communication among ground units, Army aviation, and supporting Air Force elements. Control and coordination are achieved by the most rapid means of communication available between Soldiers and units. When electrical and/or digital means of communication are inadequate, or not available, a station-to-station system of visual communication is an alternate means for transmitting orders, information, or requests for aid or support. Through the use of hand-and-arm signals, flags, pyrotechnics, and other visual aids, messages may be transmitted. Although many of these signals are widely used, incorporated into unit communications-electronics operating instructions and standing operating procedures, Army-wide standardization will increase their effectiveness.
DA PAM 670-1 is the Guide to wear and appearance of all US Army uniforms and their associated insignia. This reference is a must have source item for all Soldiers across the Army. This 6x9 inch paperback is meant to be used in conjunction with other books in this series.
