Heinrich Hansjakob (1837-1916) war ein katholischer Pfarrer, badischer Heimatschriftsteller, Historiker und Politiker. Bekannt ist Hansjakob vor allem als Schriftsteller geworden. Neben wissenschaftlichen Werken, politischen Schriften und Reiseberichten verfasste er Erzählungen und Romane, die sich hauptsächlich mit der Lokalgeschichte des mittleren Schwarzwalds und der Mentalität der Menschen in dieser Gegend befassen. Aus dem Buch: "Wenn ich es bis heute noch nicht getan und noch nicht aufgehört habe, Bücher zu schreiben, so geschieht es vorzugsweise aus zwei Gründen. Einmal schreibe ich oft nur, um in müßigen, von den Nerven geplagten Stunden der Verzweiflung zu entgehen und die Armseligkeit meines Daseins zu vergessen. Spazierengehen kann ich nicht, lesen nur in sehr beschränktem Maße, Gesellschaft mag ich nicht, sie langweilt und ermüdet mich; beten kann den Mensch auch nicht den ganzen Tag, auch nicht immer pfeifen und singen. So bleibt mir nichts anderes übrig, als ich setze mich an den Schreibtisch und schreibe nieder, was in meinem unruhigen Kopfe zappelt."
