Miller's Story starts when he leaves an orphanage and is placed under indentured servitude to a repugnant and ungracious tyrant.Taught to mill grains for the production of beer, he lives his next five years bound in chains whereupon reaching his thirteenth birthday, he breaks his bonds and finds a world harder and more difficult than imagined, biased against his bloodline. This world full of prejudice, seems hell bent on undermining every hope and aspiration the young Miller has, yet not quite.Despite the misery of the world, he is supported by two formidable characters, a Halfling sorcerer and surprisingly, a Dwarven Warlord, who both mentor and support despite the vagrancies of life. Why? well that is revealed in future books though there are hints as to motivation.Determined to overcome all that is thrown at him and combined with his unusual intelligence he makes remarkable progress, every small minded individual trying to block his hopes, readily cursing the young Half-Orc. Yes! there's magic, but it's rare, at least for the majority of the world, but as the story progresses I hope you find yourself drawn to Miller's cause. There's humour mixed with the unexpected, conflicted emotions and decision making.Miller needs to survive whilst so much is difficult. Will he?As i wrote this book i wanted to make it different, not the usual 'hero finds it easy', nor a dungeons and dragons shallow read, yet there are elements of old dnd in the book, not obvious; but they're there, a hint or three. Don't be put off. I've tried to make this an enjoyable mature read.My greatest hope is that i made the book different, and not a waste of your time nor money.I would be delighted if you became an ally, not of me, but of Miller!
