Her legacy as an aviator was a credit to both her race and to her gender. --- Avett's other tasks include global suffering caused by an economic depression, the internment of legal citizens during a war, a nun's sacrifice of fame and fortune to answer a higher calling and the road to election of the first female President of the United States.
