  • - A Short Memoir of an Even Shorter War
    af James "doc" Crabtree
    88,95 kr.

In December 1998 a coalition consisting of the United States, the United Kingdom and (to its surprise) Kuwait launched a war against Iraq. Officially it was to set back Saddam's WMD programs and to get weapons inspectors back in the country but by coincidence it was also when President Clinton was about to be impeached for his efforts to obstruct justice. Capt. James "Doc" Crabtree was there with his pen and ink to record the absurdity of this 70-hour war.

  • - Improvised Antiaircraft Weapons and Techniques
    af James "doc" Crabtree
    118,95 kr.

Originally published in 1996, Guerrilla Air Defense remains the only book which looks at the topic of improvised and insurgent air defense weapons and techniques. The rise of airpower in the 20th century proved its worth in counterinsurgency operations and in turn has seen guerrilla and partisan movements develop the means to defeat the aircraft of the enemy. As Doc Crabtree explains, the roots of air defense actually goes back before 1900. Remarkably, a copy of this book was found in bin Laden's compound when he was killed by Navy Seals in 2011.

  • - The Camp Purgatory Years

Presented here for the first time is James D. Crabtree's collection of Buster's Battery cartoons, as seen in the Fort Bliss Monitor. If you love military humor then you won't want to miss Buster, Beaker, Wendy, Sergeant Enigma and others in their adventures in Air Defense Artillery.

This book contains the Geneva Conventions Relative to the Treatment of Prisoners of War (Signed 21OCT1950). The Geneva Convention is currently accepted world-wide as the standard for the treatment of POWs, although it has not always been followed by all combatants. The POW handbook also provides an index to important topics up front and descriptive list of articles, hopefully making this the easiest copy of the Geneva Convention to use.

During Operation Desert Shield the United States Army sent several hundreds of thousands of men and women to the Saudi Desert as part of the Coalition which would eventually liberate Kuwait. Some of these soldiers were Air Defense Artillerymen. Secrets and Scuds focuses on one of these units, "B" Battery, 2nd Battalion 1st ADA, as it is put on a war footing at Fort Bliss, TX, travels to the Middle East, and uses its Hawk surface-to-air missile system to help create an impressive network of antiaircraft systems in the region. What was not revealed at the time was that 2-1 ADA was equipped with a second, secret, weapon system. Where most medium-range SAM systems (like Hawk) employ radar to detect, track and destroy targets, the Alpha system employed an entirely new principle undetectable to the enemy. Desert Storm would be the first opportunity to test this weapon system. James "Doc" Crabtree served during the Persian Gulf War as a Tactical Control Officer for the Hawk missile system and an operator of the notorious Alpha system. Crabtree's humorous insights, photos and cartoons tell the story of Bravo Battery in a way no other medium could.
