This book is a highly illustrated sketch of the history of the Lab's research and educational activities from rustic beginnings to world renown. It will contain an introduction by Bruce Stillman, and a main text by Jan Witkowski consisting of three elements: an illustrated essay about the research done at the Lab's founding institutions from 1890 through 1962; a second illustrated essay about the research discoveries and accomplishments in education from 1962 to the present day; a section of "vignettes," short, highly structured accounts of 40 highlights from the Lab's track record of research.
Contains reprints of 20 significant papers published by scientists while at Cold Spring Harbor, with a non-technical explanation of the work's significance at the time and a profile of the investigator concerned.
