The key character, Angela MacLeod, is a young woman growing up in New Zealand with a love of all things English. This was triggered by an overheard conversation in which her mother revealed she had once been engaged to marry a titled Old Etonian. Captivated by this news, Angela is inspired to pursue what her mother had failed to achieve. Despite the distance between New Zealand and England and the differences in upbringing and social background, this unlikely scenario becomes a reality. Angela, a vivacious nineteen -year-old, sails for England in the early 1960s. After a catalogue of misadventures with mature aristocrats in England, ironically, Angela does find the love of her life back in New Zealand in the person of the dashing Earl of Bravington, bearer of four titles, whom she marries and produces two sons. Hilariously, they travel the world together until an unexpected inheritance is squandered, the marriage fails and Angela goes from riches to rags. The book is peopled by wittily drawn characters and events in an international setting. It includes a darkly mysterious middle-European multi-millionaire, Angela becoming his weakness. The action moves to the United States and by the millennium Angela is questioned over a murder, which brings her sharply to reality. Throughout, Angela remains true to herself and despite an opportunity to marry a thoroughly suitable man, she never wavers from her mission in life - her search for that ever elusive destiny.............................................. Lifelong New Zealand friends Jainey Bolingbroke and Jane Scott wrote Only Four Titles Left after Jainey fought and survived cancer. A Viscountess herself, Jainey's title dates from the time of William the Conqueror and is regarded as one of England's oldest and most renowned titles. Henry Bolingbroke, born in Bolingbroke Castle in Lincolnshire, deposed Richard II to rule England from 1399 to 1413 as King Henry IV. Jainey Bolingbroke lives in Christchurch, New Zealand; Jane Scott in Sydney, Australia.

FINALLY, a dating book written from the male perspective. This book is for the woman who is tired of dating players. A player will fool you into believing you are special to him when in reality he is just after sex. This book will help you recognize the warning signs of a player before your feelings get too serious for him. It will start you on a path in the right direction toward finding a Reformed Player to date. A Reformed Player is tired of the games and looking for a more meaningful relationship. This is a fun, easy, quick read. Each chapter focuses on a question that women have always wanted to know the answer to such as, "Is he cheating on me?". Richard succinctly answers it and then lists red flags that signal your man is cheating on you. Next, he tells a story from his past and then discusses the issue in general. Each chapter ends with a take away comparing Richard's and a Reformed Player's answers. If you are looking for love and marriage or a significant relationship without tying the knot, then read this book to make sure you are not chasing or even dating the wrong guy. You may know someone who is dating the wrong guy. Giving her this book is a subtle way of telling her that because she will be laughing at Richard's experiences while realizing that she is indeed dating a dick! Richard is a blunt man whom tells it like it is. He is hated by men because he is now telling you their secrets--how they think, what they do to get sex and avoid marriage and how they make you fall in love with them while they are cheating on you. He isn't trying to tell you what you want to hear. He doesn't sugar coat anything. He tells you what you need to hear to make your dating experience pleasurable for you too. He is not a psychologist or sociologist. He is just a guy's guy whom has had countless experiences with various women from the girl next door to a pin-up model and he was a dick to all of them. He had no intention of marrying them or even dating them. He just wanted to use them for sex. Richard finally had an epiphany and realized what he was doing to these poor women. Further, he decided he wanted more out of life than just meaningless sex. He wanted love, marriage and children. He became reformed and suggests you date a Reformed Player because they have all the good qualities (looks, confidence, and bravado) of a player but have had enough of the game. They are now ready for a one-on-one after party with you. A nice guy is fine but you most likely aren't attracted to him because he doesn't have that je ne sais quoi quality of a player. More importantly, the nice guy probably hasn't been with very many women so he will be more liable to cheat on you to sew his male wild oats. Many readers enjoy Richard's animal comparisons to the human dating jungle. They also like his bluntness and comical stories. Read the book. Share it with your friends. Give it as a party favor for a bachelorette party. Just spot the Richards of the world and then date the Reformed Players. Happy Dating!

After a decade of living in the United States, ELISE ENGLE returns to Japan to intersect a parallel world from which she diverged years ago. Now a woman in her early forties, faced with the dissolution of her marriage, she seeks safe harbor in a Zen Buddhist temple, outside of bustling Tokyo. It is from this backdrop that she will begin to reflect on the journey to her mid-life. The story unfolds through reflections of Elise as a younger character, one who embraces adventure, love and longing. Zen Buddhist principles are interwoven with Elise's journey, to tell the story of a soul seeking peace and a sense of self again. "She touches the splintering timber and the smell of tar fills her nose. Her eyes follow the heavy doors to the place where they intersect the blue sky. A few abandoned snowflakes fall, brushing her cheeks. Elise squints at the light above and breathes deeply. She has arrived. In some ways her journey has ended and, although feeling relief, she knows the most difficult journey is yet to begin. A single tear slides down her right cheek and she tastes salt. She tastes him." Entering the heavy wooden doors of the temple, her life begins to flash before her eyes in a series of slow motion frames. Within these walls she will face, again, the person she is and the choices she has made. The smell of the wind in her nose standing high on a mountain peak; the song of colliding bamboo high above her head; the dusting of snow over autumn leaves in the temple garden; the feeling of a loved one she lost so many years ago; her heart beating once again when she thought her soul had chosen death once more - to experience each image, in essence, is to devour the pages of the Season of the Cicada. In this novel, Elise creates a second chance - to relive the context of her youth and, at the same time, experience the fruits of her growing wisdom.
