O objectivo deste livro é analisar a situação da Denominação de Origem Protegida (DOP) Jumilla de um ponto de vista histórico, geográfico e económico. A DOP Jumilla, localizada na província de Murcia, tem uma grande tradição vitivinícola que remonta a séculos atrás, através da qual as suas empresas têm evoluído ao longo do tempo. Está actualmente a mostrar uma evolução positiva nas suas vendas, bem como um enfoque crescente na produção de vinhos de qualidade. Esta situação implica um enorme esforço em I&D que deve continuar a ser consolidado, a fim de melhorar a sua competitividade e continuar a expandir-se nos segmentos mais exigentes.

The purpose of this book is to analyze the situation of the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Jumilla from a historical, geographical and economic point of view. The Jumilla PDO, located in the province of Murcia, has a great winemaking tradition dating back centuries, through which its companies have evolved over time. It is currently showing a positive evolution in its sales, as well as a focus increasingly oriented towards the production of quality wines. This situation implies an enormous effort in R&D that must continue to be consolidated in order to improve its competitiveness and continue to expand in the most demanding segments.
