A man who poisons minds. A young missing American. Mysterious holes on farmland about to be flooded. And three dead bodies. The call from Mr Wolski disturbs Dale. He understands a father's concern for his missing daughter, but Wolski hovers on the side of obsession. His daughter, Joanna, vanished from Glastonbury almost a month ago. It's the job of Valentine Investigations to find her. It should be easy to find a young woman with an American accent in rural Somerset. But no one has seen her, or heard from her. The more Dale and Milly uncover about Joanna Wolski, the more they worry about her safety. Then Detective Inspector Lauren Kennedy discovers one of her cold cases, and a fresh corpse, are linked to the same meditation group as Dale's missing person. The killer's calling card, a single black diamond, throws up more questions than answers. Does Glastonbury really have a serial killer in its midst? Who will be next? And where is Joanna Wolski? A new crime series from the best-selling author of the Lorne Turner Supernatural Thrillers.
As mysteries go this one doesn't look too bad. At least on the surface. Lorne's obligations to a department within military intelligence are called in when Ms Pilar Sanchez turns up with her men-in-black. She leaves behind a box full of photos and secrets. He's tasked with clearing out any mystical or esoteric objects in the cottage of a dead artist who lived nearby. The cottage is full of paintings and statues of a figure that is ill defined and yet hauntingly beautiful. A creature of dreams. Those dreams lead Lorne and Heather to uncover an entrance to an ancient mine working. Within the darkness they find a woman, they find a cage, and they uncover a terrible secret. Freeing the suffering creature, Lorne does the one thing he vowed never to do. He unleashes hell on the innocent. It's not just them that pay the price this time. The question is how high will the final cost be for the team?
Two dead bodies under the same willow tree, twenty-five years a part. The only link, a series of poison pen letters, and the secrets hidden in the lonely soil of an old farm. That's when the second body shows up. The twisting links between a broken love, a dark secret and the damage to an old bull called Billy, start to unravel as Dale picks at the knots.
