Obwohl es Netzwerke zur Datenkommunikation noch gar noch nicht so lange gibt, sind sie heute die Basis fur viele Anwendungssysteme. Im Zuge der ISO/OSI- Bemuhungen in den 80er Jahren wurden einige grundlegende Konzepte fur die Datenkommunikation erarbeitet.
