Although John Bunyan's Pilgrim emerged in Puritan dress from the Town Prison on Bedford Bridge in 1676, he has remained to this day, in more than 120 languages, an influence which is almost as wide as Christianity itself. Many explanations are offered for the book's enduring appealthe masterly allegory which can charm both child and adult; the great humanness of the characters who, after a few rapid strokes, appear in flesh and blood likeness; the plain, vivid Englishand yet all these things are secondary. Above all, Pilgrim's Progress is a life story. It depicts the life which Bunyan himself lived and, at the same time, the life with which all Christians can substantially identify themselves. For, as Augustus M. Toplady wrote, the book describes 'every stage of a Christian's experience, from conversion to glorification.' It does so with such abiding relevance because Bunyan's world of thought is that of the Bible itself.
Few Christians have impacted the church as has John Bunyan. If you enjoyed Pilgrim's Progress, The Holy War, or any of his various evergreen writings, do also allow yourself the reward of soaking in John Bunyan's classic, Christian poetry. You will be delighted as a child, challenged if a sinner, and rewarded richly as a fellow believer. About the AuthorJohn Bunyan was born November 1628, in Elstow, England. A celebrated English minister and preacher, he wrote The Pilgrim's Progress (1678), the book that was the most characteristic expression of the Puritan religious outlook. His other works include doctrinal and controversial writings; a spiritual autobiography, Grace Abounding (1666); and the allegory The Holy War (1682).
Why would Reformation Press (an imprint of Great Christian Books) publish yet another edition of the most frequently published book after the Bible itself? Well, simply, we agree with Dr. Barry E. Horner the scholar who brings us this The Accurate Revised edition, that too many versions of this classic work have been overly modernized, abridged or stripped of the gospel truths which John Bunyan labored to communicate throughout this masterful allegory of the Christian Pilgrim's life. Working from what scholars agree to be the most complete, faithful and final version of Bunyan's manuscript, Dr. Horner has judiciously crafted a modernized version which retains all the glorious and compelling doctrine that The Tinker of Bedford, (as Bunyan was called), so eloquently conveys to all who join Pilgrim in his journey to The Celestial City.
Grace Abounding to the Chief of SInners is a spiritual autobiography composed while Bunyan was serving a twelve-year prison sentence for preaching without a license. The book chronicles Bunyan's conversion to Puritanism.
The book "" Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners "" has been considered important throughout the human history, and so that this work is never forgotten we have made efforts in its preservation by republishing this book in a modern format for present and future generations. This whole book has been reformatted, retyped and designed. These books are not made of scanned copies and hence the text is clear and readable.
There is a dark side to light, you know. Evil wears many disguises. It always camouflages itself as other than it is; and, good men are deceived. The very nature of deception is that the deceived do not know that they are deceived. There is a dark side to light, you know. In the midst of the darkness - the children of light! The backdrop - spiritual warfare. This Christian Classic -- The Holy War -- is a book of spiritual warfare written by a man who was fully engaged, John Bunyan. He illumines the mind and challenges the spirit with stories of powerfully insightful symbolic battles that illustrate biblical truth. Through this powerful allegory, you will learn how to: (1) Build up your defenses and (2) prepare for war!Bunyan will illuminate your understanding and show you: · When your will is in line with Christ, you can accomplish anything· Spiritual attack is constant and can be deadly.· The enemy will stop at nothing to possess your soul.· Christ the Conqueror is on your side, and with His help, you have nothing to fear! Bunyan will illuminate your understanding and show you that, with Christ the Conqueror on your side, you have nothing to fear One of the Finest! Powerfully-Written! Profound!

The Pilgrim's Progress is the second best selling book of all time after the Holy Bible. The major theme in John Bunyan's The Pilgrim's Progress is the cost of salvation. As Christian's journey proves, the road to Heaven is not easy, the cost is great, and the true Christian must be willing to pay the cost no matter what. This book was divided into chapters to make reading easier.
John Bunyan's Seasonable Counsel (1684) asserts that the true Christian should entrust himself to the faithful Lord who is the master over all. He also asserts that the belief in Jesus Christ will purge the believers of their temptations and sinners of their guilt.
