Cherries basically started out as a wild Cherry in Central Asia, America and Europe. In Japanese myth and culture the cherry refer to cherry trees and cherry blossom. Cherries have been a part of culinary history in ancient Rome where it was brought by Roman soldiers from Armenia in 72 BC. It came to England with Henry the VIIIth who tasted this fruit in Flanders and wanted it cultivated in England. Cherries which you eat at the table or cooked are either sweet -Prunus avium- or sour -Prunus cerasus- in taste. The growing of cherries in large quantities for commercial purposes is a challenge because of their vulnerability to harsh elements and the high cost of spraying, irrigation, maintenance of trees and labor costs.

Table of Contents Prelude Identifying Fitness Bio-hacking Chapter # 1: Nutrition, Exercise & Sleep Chapter # 2: Muscle Growth Chapter # 3: Fat Loss Chapter # 5: Increased Strength Factors Affecting Endurance Conclusion Author Bio References Publisher Prelude Biohacking is the science, or more specifically an art, that is based upon the hacker ethic whose aim is to maximize the potentials of your body so you can live a longer, healthier life. The whole concept if biohacking lies on the foundations of do-it-yourself so you won't be able to gain success until and unless you are willing to engage your body in self-experimentation. With respect to fitness, biohacks are a tad bit complex, in a sense that they would be pretty much personal to everyone and one generic hack would hardly apply to each individual. A little deeper and it would mean that biohacks would depend on the topic of interest, which could either be increased power, muscle, or fitness. The whole methodology of biohacks is threefold, which is explained in the subsequent paragraphs. If you're really on a quest for better, healthier lifestyle, the foremost thing that you need to have evaluated is yourself. A number of people are wizards in pointing out all things one shouldn't do but fail to list all the things they should do. The best way to do so is by tracking your progress and noting every worthwhile detail like sleeping patterns, exercise plans, etc. The next thing you should consider is change. Change is vital for life in a sense that it must keep some excitement in life. You must be able to tweak the details and routines of your life. Change your diet plan, sleeping patterns, an anything else that makes you more comfortable. If you can track it, you can change it. What might work for one person might not work for you; you have to realize this much. You need to know that not every person has the same physical and chemical characteristics as the other and to achieve optimal health you must have an open mind that could induce flexibility in your thinking. The last three paragraphs are the basic ground rules that should be in your mind if you plan on transforming your health into something worth showing off. The exact techniques to do this have been explained in the book, so read on.

Table of Contents Introduction What is a red panda? How do red pandas act? Where do red pandas live? What kinds of red pandas are there? The history of red pandas and humans The genetic debate Red pandas as pets Conclusion Introduction The red panda is probably one of the cutest creatures around, easily tying with the giant panda. But why are they both called pandas if they look so incredibly different? And what makes the red panda different from, say, a raccoon? Red pandas are unique animals all their own. They live in Asia, towards the East, and they have been a more recent favorite animal of many children and adults. Unlike its name-sibling the giant panda, the red panda receives less attention than many endangered animals. However, it is also one of the more common zoo animals, since red pandas do so well in zoos. What makes the red panda an animal worth knowing? There are a lot of answers to that question, and we will cover them in this book.

Table of Contents Introduction About Rhinoceroses What a Rhino Looks Like How Rhinos Act and Talk Threats to Rhinoceros White Rhinoceros Black Rhinoceros Indian Rhinoceros Javan Rhinoceros Sumatran Rhinoceros Interesting Facts about the Rhinoceros Rhinoceros in different cultures Conclusion Publisher Introduction Rhinos are one of the major attractions at most zoos and wildlife preserves. In Greek, the word rhinoceros means nose horn. There are species of rhino that live in Asia and Africa; the African rhinos are the biggest. Many rhinos will let an oxpecker ride on their back, in return the bird will watch for danger and make a loud sounding special alarm, if there is harm. Rhinoceroses like to live by themselves. They have really bad eyesight, so if you see when charging into a tree or ant hill, it's most likely because they cannot see very well.

Doctors have begun asking their heart patients to take up gardening as a relaxing therapy, and this book is going to tell you all about how to take full benefit of the gentle exercise for the body, as well as a relaxing and soothing therapy for your mind. According to studies, it has been proved that middle-aged men with high risk of coronary diseases and stress-related diseases are expected to live longer if they take some sort of regular to moderate exercise, especially in the open air, and in a garden. These outdoor activities include gardening, fishing, walking, or doing any sort of activity which does not exert them much in the open air. Gardening has long been known to be an excellent stress buster. Down the ages, anybody who got up in the morning with a bit of a black monkey on his shoulder was immediately turned out doors, with a pick or a shovel and told to dig in the ground. This physical exercise in itself was enough to make his mind free of stress and tension. Also, when people were disturbed, they went out for long walks, so that they could grow calm in heart, body, soul and spirit.

Millenniums ago, when man was still a nomadic traveler, herding his sheep, goats, horses, and camels, along with him, when he traveled in search for a more suitable dwelling, the milk obtained from milking his domestic animals was stored in leather bags. So as the story goes, one fine dawn two leather bags with lots of camels milk was stored on both sides of such a nomad's saddle, and the tribe moved off towards richer horizons and pastures. By the time the journey was done at dusk, and the leather bags were taken off, so that the thirsty traveler could drink up deep and gratefully, he found that there was some solid portion accumulated on top of the liquid. The loping motion of the camel, throughout the day had churned and agitated the milk in such a manner, that the milk had turned into buttermilk, and with lots of delicious solid butter floating on top of it. Since then, mankind has blessed camels for adding another delicious, nourishing, healing food item to their daily meals. So this book is going to tell you all about how you can make fresh butter and buttermilk, as well as use it naturally and often, in order to heal yourself of a large number of ailments for which, otherwise, you would have taken the supposedly only other available option, of pills and other chemical-based drugs.

But then at that time longevity was the rule and not the exception. This process of growing old chronologically is a normal process of life. It occurs in every living thing present in nature. External factors also age nonliving things with the passage of time. A person is called old on the basis of his chronological age. That is why in the 21st century, anyone who has passed the age of three score and 10 will be considered to be old. However, in olden times, people lived for anywhere between 200 to 300 years, and still managed to look youthful and had as much energy as young adults. The slowing down of the aging process is due to many factors, most of which are not present in the 21st century scenario. This includes clean-air, healthy pollution free atmosphere, a good natural diet, lots of exercise, and also a strong disease-free gene line. With the passing of time, the natural good health and comparatively long age enjoyed by man 5000 years ago, has deteriorated a lot. The functional state of a living organism which is also known as the biological age is going to have a great influence on the aging of the person. This is going to show up mentally and physically in signs. Bring off the hair on the scalp is one such feature. Another feature is the presence of wrinkles and folds on the face, forehead, neck and forearms.

Just not eating a lemon, because it is sour in taste, is going to prevent you from experiencing all the natural benefits of this versatile citrus fruit. Lemons are considered to have originated in Asia, - China and Burma - from where they managed to conquer the world. Christopher Columbus brought lemon seeds back to Europe, from his travels. It thus began to be cultivated in Europe, where before it was a rarity. It was only in the 1740s, that people in the West began to understand that there was some power in the lemons, which prevented sailors from suffering from scurvy and beriberi. They had not heard of vitamins C at that time of course, but sailing tradition spread the word through word of mouth that whenever sailors reached some islands, they had to eat of the fruit and the grasses there. That would prevent their gums from bleeding, pain in the muscles and in the bones and make them feel healthier. These fruits were citrus fruits, including lemons. This cause and effect apparent result made European Navies make it a rule that every ship sailing out of harbor should have a plentiful supply of lemons, green grasses and other citrus fruits to feed to the sailors and the officers, during the voyage. However, lemons have been known since 10 A.D. in Persia, where they were used for beautifying, culinary and medical purposes. Also, their gardens used to have lemon trees, and plenty of their traditional poetry described the lemon flower along with pomegranate flowers as a symbol of beauty and grace. The characteristic sourness of the lemon, is due to the citric acid content in it. That is why lemon juice, as well as its rind and pulp, is used in culinary preparations, all over the world. The whole of the lemon fruit can be used, with the rind ground to add a flavor to special baked dishes. Lemon juice or even the peel of the dried lemon can be used for preparing beauty products and also in natural herbal remedies.

Health Benefits of Flaxseeds For Cooking and Health Table of Contents Getting Started Chapter # 1: Intro Chapter # 2: Nutritional Worth Chapter # 3: Selection and Storage Chapter # 4: Precautions Big Fiber Load: Oxidation/Rancidity: Cyanide: Flaxseed Oil, an alternative to Fish Oil? Health Benefits of Flaxseeds Chapter # 1: Introduction Chapter # 2: The Uniqueness of the Nutrients Chapter # 3: Cardiovascular Benefits Chapter # 4: Cancer Prevention Chapter # 5: Radio-protector Chapter # 6: Reduction in hot flashes Conclusion References Intro In this day and age, if it was said that flaxseed is the most underrated, natural product in terms of nutrition; the statement wouldn't be wrong. A very little percentage of people in the civilized world know about the existence of flaxseed, let alone about its wonders. And even those who can identify it call it by a different name, i.e. the 'linseed'. Comprehensively speaking, flaxseeds are seeds acquired from the fruit of the flax plant. The seeds are of glossy brown appearance, although the color may vary according to the type and resemble the seeds of a watermelon in shape. The plant is one of the easiest cultivated crops and can be found in both tropical and subtropical environments. There is no need to open encyclopedias to learn about the wonders of flax; its importance in our everyday life can be established simply by breaking down and studying its scientific name, Linum usitatissimum. The linum part of the name sounds much like the fabric linen and it is by no coincidence that the fabric is a product of the flax plant. The second part of the word when translated from Latin means, "of greatest use", and it is true that flax has fulfilled that promise by not only supplying people with a sustainable food source but also by products that can be used to manufacture goods ranging from sails, bow strings and even body armor. The history of flaxseeds began somewhere between 4000BC and 2000BC when the cultivation of flax became a common practice in and around the Middle East& Mediterranean. Since its very inception, the culinary and domestic worth of flaxseeds have run in parallel with each other. Nowadays, flaxseeds are divided according to their quality with the highest one being used for cooking purposes and medium/low quality flaxseeds being processed and then being used in wood finishes, coatings, paints and industrial chemicals. The two most basic varieties of flaxseeds include brown flaxseeds and yellow/golden flaxseeds, both being identical in terms of health benefits with only one exception separating them. Scientists have discovered that a component of the yellow flaxseeds called, 'solin' has made the yellow flaxseeds more appropriate for the production of culinary products such as oils. And although brown flaxseeds are also used for the production of cooking oils, most of them find their way in cattle feed, fiber and chemical factories.

Table of Contents Introduction Chapter 1: Appearance and Behavior Chapter 2: Environment Conclusion Author Bio Bonus Dinosaur Content Introduction to Dinosaurs Facts about Dinosaurs Dinosaur Extinction Dinosaur Fossils Dinosaur Eggs Dinosaur Names Dinosaur Diet Feathered Dinosaurs Plant Eating Dinosaurs The Weirdest Dinosaurs The Deadliest Dinosaurs Flying Dinosaurs Kinds of Dinosaurs The Biggest Dinosaurs The Smallest Dinosaurs Author Bio Publisher Introduction Salutations young reader! Today we are going to embark on a journey back to the age of the dinosaurs. The dinosaurs are some of the most incredible animals that ever lived on our planet. They lived nearly 200 million years ago and thrived for about 165 million years. We humans have only been around for about 60,000 years and we have only been using computers for about 75 years. The dinosaurs mysteriously became extinct and disappeared from our earth, but left their fossilized remains behind. Dinosaur fossils have been constantly discovered in human history; the Chinese thought they were dragon bones and Europeans thought they were the bones of biblical monsters. Luckily, the scientific study of dinosaurs began in between 1815-1824 with the discovery of an Iguanodon fossil. Since then dinosaurs have been discovered all over the world. Their immense size, strange shapes, and wonderful natures make them inherently worthy of interest. The study of dinosaurs requires depth of imagination, analytical skills, and thought. The many unanswered questions about their lives, behavior, and disappearance provoke the curious to seek answers and ask even more questions. I hope this book fuels your imagination and makes you want to learn even more about dinosaurs. I hope you learn to appreciate the value of the dinosaurs and that you bring a spirit of openness and wonder on your journey back to the age of the dinosaurs. We know what we know about the dinosaurs from a variety of sources including fossils, biology, and other scientific disciplines. Fossils are the ancient remains of the dinosaurs, the most familiar being their bones. Biological science is the study of life in general, but many scientists compare the dinosaurs to modern day animals to support their theories. In this book we are going to talk about the Troodon. The Troodon was one of the first dinosaurs discovered in the United States. It is interesting because it is one of the smartest dinosaurs that ever lived. We will not only talk about scientists figured out it was intelligent, but also about its probable behavior and relationship with its environment. Before a talk about dinosaurs can take place it is important that we discuss the theory of evolution. Evolutionary theory supposes that all the animals we know and see today are the direct descendants of animals that existed millions of years ago. The dinosaurs and other creatures that existed millions of years ago either died out or gradually changed into different animals. For instance, birds are considered to be surviving dinosaurs because their dinosaur ancestors survived the dinosaur extinction event (we will discuss this later). The Troodon is considered by scientists to be a direct ancestor or very close relative to modern birds. Remember that any time you see an * next to the name of a dinosaur, it means that a book has been written about this dinosaur in the Dinosaur Books for Young Readers series. Any word written in bold is an important scientific term which is defined in-text. Italics are used to denote the first time a dinosaur's name is mentioned in the book.

Appendix How to Make Traditional Apple Butter Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction For all of those who have grown up on the aphorism of an apple a day keeps the doctor away, they are not going to find it surprising that since ancient times, Apples have been considered to be The Fruit of the Gods. Norse gods were given a daily diet of apples in order to help them keep their youth and beauty by the goddess Edda. It was one of the tasks of Hercules in Greek mythology to obtain the Golden Apples of Life in the Garden of Hesperides. In the same way Paris was asked to judge between 3 goddesses, Aphrodite, Athena and Hera on the general theme of who is the fairest of them all. Aphrodite bribed him with Helen - the most beautiful woman in the world - and he awarded her the Golden Apple of beauty. And so, fate brought about the 10 year Trojan war with the gods and goddesses taking sides in the activities of men. Wild apples are supposed to have originated in Asia, - especially in Kazakhstan and Tajikistan area - where you can still find them growing wild today. The domestic variety was then taken from Central Asia by nomads to other parts of Europe, Asia and grown in gardens and orchards. European colonists took the apple from Europe to America in the 15th century. But before that these apples were a major part of ancient Greek, Norse and Scandinavian history. For millenniums people in Europe and Asia survived harsh winters by subsisting on apples that they had picked in autumn. Even now, in many parts of the world, these apples preserved just above freezing level are a major part of the winter nutritious daily diet. Crab apples are native North American apples, also called Common Apples. Apple growing is a multibillion dollar industry today in many parts of the USA, thanks to Rev. High Blood Pressure Remedy Conclusion Author Bio Introduction Being an avid botanist and herbal knowledge seeker since childhood, and later with a Degree in Natural Sciences, - Botany And Zoology foremost-I was happy to find that most of the plants, which I knew growing in my different gardens or in the woods just outside the boundary wires of our houses, nearly every plant had some medical, culinary or beauty use, coming down from the ages. The first medicinal compendium in the East was written more than 5000 years ago in India and before that, in China. In the West, also Western Wise men, especially in Greece, more than 3000 years ago began noting down the knowledge of the nature of plants and they are medicinal value and remedies, taught to them by their teachers and masters. One blesses the time, dedication, energy and effort taken in writing down all this knowledge, because in prehistoric times, all this knowledge was passed down through word of mouth. And most of it got lost because nobody had any visible and readable records of that knowledge. But the moment human beings got to know about writing materials like clay tablets, wax tablets, dried palm leaves and papyri as well as paper in China, this knowledge was preserved for the generations to come. We just needed to interpret it, and use it in the best way of which we knew. Most of this knowledge, when read from a scientific viewpoint is scoffed as quack remedies and sheer silly ignorance. I remember one of my acquaintances scoffing about an ancient Egyptian remedy, in which Egyptian grandmothers used to apply a paste of moldy bread, to a wound in order to cure it. That was done 4000 years ago. My sophisticated 21st-century totally scientifically minded friend shuddered at this idea full of ignorance, but what could you expect from such barbarians. When I told her that this remedy had passed down through the ages and was still in use, to cure infections. In 16th century Russia, every house had a moldy bread culture. Any bread, catching a mold would be put in a glass utensil, in which there was a little bit of water and some more moldy bread. And this culture was allowed to flourish. Anybody suffering from any cuts and wounds were immediately bandaged after the wound was washed, and treated to a moldy bread paste. When I told her that that same moldy bread was the basis of penicillin and other powerful antibiotics, discovered by Alexander Fleming in the 20th century, she blinked. These are the penicillins and sulfa drugs, which are being used by modern-day doctors. In the same way, she was equally surprised to know that the Gauls used to go to war, with huge quantities of fresh moss. The moment they suffered from wounds while fighting those Romans, those Vikings, those Juts, Firbolgs and perhaps even those Picts, -but not the Tuatha Danaan-they immediately scooped up a handful of moss, squeezed it, tied it on to the wound, bandaged it with a piece of any cloth or rope to keep it in place and continued fighting on.

Visit to your doctor can wait, of course, because right now nothing is wrong with you. You are perfectly okay. And then one day you are running to congratulate your son, who has perhaps just graduated from his high school or maybe you are getting late for some appointment and suddenly, an excruciating pain arises in your chest and goes to your shoulder... you want it to subside but the pain keeps gripping you. You feel as if your life is at an end. But you don't want it to end. There is so much to do. But you can't stand on your feet anymore. You feel yourself falling, falling, falling and may be you won't wake up again. The above account describes heart attack in a nutshell. And according the American Heart Association, "About 7,250,000 Americans have a heart attack each year" So, it's quite common, common enough that someday I and you could encounter this situation too. However, it's not like we can't do anything about it. While there's no vaccine for heart attack, we can, however, significantly reduce the chances of getting a heart attack by making simple changes in our routines. This book will attempt to highlight the fact that you can, by knowing about heart attack and what risks it poses, make subtle changes in your routine and diet that will go a long way towards reducing the risk of heart attack. I must emphasize here, however, that this is no reference book and it can reinforce but cannot replace a good doctor's advice. So, while I assure you that you will find it very informative and helpful, do not rely solely on this book for curing a heart attack; instead consult a doctor as well. With this caution in mind, let us now first see what this heart attack, which takes away the lives of so many people each year, really is, before diving into what we can do to avoid it.

Each of these dieting plans claims to be better than the other one. But the plan mentioned in this book makes no such claims. It is about a popular plan or you should say a complete way of eating and living known as "Intermittent Fasting". Now you might be wondering what is intermittent fasting, what are its benefits and how to apply it in your own life? But wait a minute. Just take a deep breath. If the answer to all these queries would have been this easy, I would have just sufficed on writing an article and not a whole book on the topic. You will just have to read this book to get your queries answered. Before formally starting the topic, a brief overview of the book will give the readers a better idea about the book. As the title suggests, the focus of this book is to answer only one question and it is that what are the health benefits of intermittent fasting? However, other aspects are also discussed in the book. This book can be divided into three parts. The first part will give a brief introduction about intermittent fasting like what it is, the mechanism behind it and how to apply it in your everyday life? The second portion analyzes the pros and cons of intermittent fasting and ways to maximize its benefits. The third part will discuss the health benefits (the main focus of this book) of intermittent fasting.

The usual benefits include culinary & medical but garlic is also known to mankind as a tool in welcoming good luck, protecting itself against evil and warding off vampires! Garlic is a member of the onion genus and is known in the scientific community as Allium sativum. It is a close relative to the leek, chive, shallot, rakkyo and of course onion. The head of the garlic plant is the part that is generally used and referred to as garlic; each bulb consists of many small and independent, fleshy sections known as cloves. Both the bulb and the cloves are enclosed in premature, almost transparent sheets of pure white, off-white or purple/pink color. The cloves are the part that are usually consumed (raw or cooked) or used for medicinal purposes and are characterized by a firm texture. As soon as garlic hits the palate, it gives a hot, pungent taste with continuous flashes of sweetness. As the garlic is cooked, the hot and spicy flavor fades and is overshadowed by the sweet one. When it comes to cultivating, garlic does not give a hard time to farmers or hobbyists and can be grown round-the-year in mild climates. Moreover, garlic plants are not attacked by pests or insecticides and repel hares and other rodents that make it even friendlier. Garlic is native to the central Asian region and is one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world. It has been grown for more or less 5000 years and the oldest surviving records put the Ancient Egyptians as the first people to cultivate it which explains garlic's impact on their culture. In ancient Egypt, garlic used in preserving Pharaohs; it was also given to the builders of the ancient Pyramids as it enhanced their strength & endurance. This power-enhancing quality was also honored by the Greeks and the Romans who consumed garlic before any muscular sporting events such as chariot racing, etc. Garlic was spread around the world with the help of migrating ethnic tribes and explorers and by 6th Century BC garlic was being cultivated in regions of China and India. Throughout the millennia, especially after the Progressive era, garlic has gained unprecedented popularity in the scientific Western world due to its medicinal properties. Garlic has been used for treatments as small as disinfecting wounds and ear infections to lowering blood pressure, improving blood circulation and controlling sugar levels. Scientists are carrying ever increasing researches on its extracts and are disclosing its therapeutic worth to the world.
