BEAUTY FOR THE BUSY WOMAN -The Six-Day Beauty Program For the Busy Woman How can a Busy Woman Keep Healthy and Beautiful? Introduction Day One Day Two Day Three Day Four Day Five Day Six Day Seven Appendix - How to make rosewater Author Bio Introduction There was a time when I was so busy that my getting ready schedule on a hectic morning took anywhere between 7 to 10 minutes. And when I asked one of my equally busy colleagues, if she could take some time out, to a spa for the weekend for a little bit of pampering, because we needed it, this was her answer. "Oh, do me a favor, DJ. Who really has the time to spend trying to beautify herself at home, or in a spa, when one does not even have the time to lie down and expire peacefully. Cannot you see that we are so busy the whole day long that if you imagine we have a few minutes for ourselves that in itself is a blessing. I am not going to be spending that time pampering myself and beautifying myself when I would rather be lying face down on a couch, fast asleep." Women have got so into the habit of being busy, busy, busy that they have forgotten the idea of cherishing themselves. How many times have you heard this statement, that one is so busy that one really does not have the time for "beautifying" one. In fact, many women I know use this as a very convenient excuse to look dowdy, and badly groomed. Because they are under the impression that good grooming takes a lot of time, and this should be done only on very special occasions. I beg to differ. A woman who does not take some time off to cherish and cosset herself is either lacking in self-esteem, or does not seem to have any interest in the mere fact that she is fortunate to have been born a woman. But then, many of us are going to say who really has the time and energy to spend long periods of time beautifying one when it is go go go from early morning till night. Yes, everybody knows that at the end of the day, a woman would like nothing better than to kick off her shoes, snuggle down in a comfortable sofa close her eyes and think deep deep, deep thoughts. So let us start a six-day beauty program with just thinking, and eyes closed. Firstly, let us start with relaxation. Unfortunately, the number of workaholics is increasing, because women have decided that more money in hand is their top priority. They are more focused on their family's future financial security and so naturally they are not going to spend their time and hard-earned money in long winded beauty treatments in Salons and spas. Also, these women with hectic and busy schedules have forgotten how to relax. So before we start on our six-day beauty treatment, here are some points, which you have to implement every day, to stay beautiful and stay healthy. Many of them are common sense tips, but how many of us implement them in real life? We do not have the time...

Table of Contents Introduction Growing Olives Olive Propagation Popular Varieties Table and Mill Olives Soil Conditions Soil Moisture Pruning Harvesting of the Fruit Olives for Taste Extracting Olive Oil Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction If you have been reading the ancient holy books, you may find references to the groves of Olives and flourishing olive trees. Olives have long been a part of human social tradition, and they have been cultivated in gardens since time immemorial. It was believed that olives could not flourish in lands, which were 35 miles away from the sea, because they needed a special type of climate. But that is not really true, because you can grow an olive tree, in a place, where there is plenty of water, where the winters are mild and in areas with Mediterranean climates. The native olive tree - Olea europaea - is considered to be a Mediterranean plant, because after all the ancient Romans and the Greeks used olive leaves as an important symbol - especially of peace. Holding out an olive branch meant PAX and not war. Even the gods blessed the olive tree, and allowed it to flourish on their land, making it prosperous through the sale of olives! Archaeological surveys in Jordan on sites going back more than 5000 years have found domesticated olives in abundance. So is it a surprise that a garden without an olive tree would be considered to be incomplete even in those ancient days. Apart from using olives in a diet, olive oil was also used since ancient times for cooking purposes. Apart from that, olive oil was used as a healthy massage oil by Romans, Babylonians, Egyptians, and other ancient civilizations in ancient times.

For millenniums he has used herbs and parts of plants for culinary, medicinal, and domestic purposes. Apart from the well-known traditional use for all manners of illnesses and ailments - I defy any person in the world who has not used some natural cure, natural remedy, or even natural beauty recipe in order to cure himself naturally, - herbs have also proven to be invaluable in many other different ways, when you take it in the domestic context. For centuries men have been using plants to provide shelter, fire material, floor coverings, roof coverings, and even utensils. Even today, in many parts of the world, the calabash is hollowed out and used as a container to store water as well as food. I have often used half of coconut shells in order to drink water, whenever I have gone trekking. Apart from this, herbs and plants have been used to provide color, decoration, flavor, and healthy benefits to a large number of our culinary preparations. This book is going to tell you how you can use natural herbs and plants to create a large number of products, that you can either sell outside in your neighborhood, city, or use at home. Many of these methods have been time-tested and have been used down the ages to provide us with useful items, even though we have half forgotten about how to make them, because it is so easy for us to get them off the supermarket shelf. Nevertheless, even if you do not use this book for providing you with items for sale, you can use it as a ready reference whenever you want to practice creating something naturally, profitably, and beneficial.

Table of Contents Introduction No Digging Gardening Compost Alternatives Sedge Peat and No Digging Improving Your Soil Structure The 4 Crop Rotation Method Sawdust and No Digging Birds in Your Garden Importance of Mulching Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction For centuries, this has been the lot of human beings, working the fields. Digging the ground before hand in order to prepare it for a new crop. Some people are going to wonder about this topic. What is this idea about no digging. As far as they know, any gardening without any digging is like having breakfast eggs without salt-and-pepper and toast with or without butter. Traditionally speaking, everybody knows that the land has to be dug and the ground aerated well, so that the seeds can get an opportunity to grow. But here is a gardener talking about no digging gardening? Well, that seems interesting! In fact, no digging gardening has been in Vogue for centuries, especially when people kept looking for shortcuts when they did not have to pick up their spades and their hose, and do the digging in the garden, especially when the weather was cold and blustery. This book is going to give you plenty of information on how people have managed to grow their gardens without any sort of digging. If you are thinking of becoming a gardener, but just hate the thought of picking up a spade and digging into the ground because it is such a tiresome and tiring exercise, here is some information about traditional non-gardening methods, which you might find interesting. In fact, this information is for all those people who have not heard that there is a controversy going on between people who advocate lots of digging and those people like I who really could not be bothered to dig, but still manage to have tolerable harvests!

How Does a Hearing Aid Work? Computer Programmed and Digital Hearing Aids Cochlear Implants Mutism Preventing Deafness Cleaning of ears Swimming Loud Sounds High blood pressure and Diabetes Your Diet Neglecting a Cold Genetic Factors Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction One of the basic tenets of good health is that you have all your five senses in perfect working condition. These include vision, smell, hearing, touch and taste. That is the reason why responsible parents need to make sure that their children do not suffer from any sort of ear maladies which can possibly lead to deafness as time goes by. I remember taking over a teaching job temporarily for a friend, more than two decades ago. I had to take care of three year old nursery children which was about as perilous a job, as one could ever wish for. Now there was this very bright-eyed little baby boy, who had never spoken a word. His parents were identified that he was deaf, but they had got his ears checked up, to make sure that he was not suffering from any possible birth defects. Three years old, not one peep and not one sound out of him, it was worrying. Until one fine afternoon, he announced to his parents that they had better ask me to be his teacher and his teacher alone because he did not want to share me with the rest of his classmates! When his nearly tearful father asked him why he had not spoken for all these years, he said very practically, that they had made sure that he did not need to talk ever because all his needs were fulfilled. Besides that, they did all the talking all the time so why did he need to talk? This young gentleman is now at college, and one cannot stop him talking. He has a keen debater and intends to argue the point on every small matter whenever he can, However, he can whenever he can. When once I recounted to him episodes in the life and times off a three-year-old, he gives me a "Come off It Ma'am" look. He never talk? Not going to happen. When I was a little child my grandfather often told me about a ritual which the elders practice whenever a child was born. They rang the silver bell behind him, to bring all the good spirits near the new born child to bless it. And if the child followed the sound of the bell, they would consider that it would live a good and virtuous life. According to me, this was the way in which they managed to find out whether the child was not suffering from congenital deafness. Also, I keep wondering about those poor little children, who were scared out of their diapers with that harsh clanging noise however much their elders considered it to be musical. The bell was rung over me, when I was born. According to my grandfather I heard it and set up a howl fit to burst the eardrums of everybody in the vicinity and got all the nurses running to soothe me. This not only proved that I was able to hear, but I was also going to be a potential critic of all the idiotic actions adults did in the future. So this book is going to tell you all about your ears, how to take care of them, and some ailments of the ears, which can be treated either naturally, or by your doctors.

Table of Contents Introduction Failure As a Stepping stone Stock Taking and Introspection Spiritual Quotient - SQ Building Bridges and Making Amends Making Changes in Your Lifestyle Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction Most of us are so taken up with the rat race of the 21st-century, that we have forgotten about how to live. We are existing only to pile up more and more material things and thus cluttering up our lives. Just look all around you. The majority of us are so busy earning money and a name for us is that we have forgotten how to make a real life for ourselves. Let us take an example of a man who decides at a very young age to be one of the success stories of the century. He is obsessed with earning money and he works 18 hours out of 24 to achieve that particular goal. And one day, if he is fortunate, his example is going to be set up as an example to be followed by other ambitious young men coming after him. People look at him with envy. He is going to be praised for being a survivor. He may also be considered to be a perfectionist and for being ahead of his times. For nearly a decade or two, he may be tracked by the media dogging his steps to record his every move, hyping up his achievements and applauding his style of functioning in the business world. But what are the side effects and the end result of being such a workaholic? He has now dedicated his life to earning more money, and buying more things to prove to the world that he has reached the zenith of his ambition, and he has no more worlds to conquer. But the media and the people around him are egging him on, because it is now a matter of pride for him to show them what he is capable of doing and achieving. When I was deciding on which career options to follow, in my late teens, someone asked me why I would not want to train to be a doctor. I had the marks, I had the aptitude and I had the ability to become an efficient doctor. In return, I told him that I would be wasting five years of my precious life, in training and internship. That would make me 22 years old. After that I would be training under someone for another 10 to 15 years in order to gain more experience. That would make me around 37 years before I decided to set up my own practice. Another 10 years before the people all around me got to know about me. By the age of 47, I would have been a total burnout working day in day out with absolutely no rest in order to make a name for myself among the cutthroat competition of doctors already present in the city or in the country. I would be suffering from tension, high blood pressure, incipient ulcers, and other stress related problems, because I would always be worried about possible successes and failures, potential malpractice threats and all other perils faced by successful doctors. All this was airy fairy persiflage, said my counselor. A doctor had a very lavish lifestyle, if he was successful. I would have everything I wanted because I had achieved my ambition of becoming a successful doctor and a name in my field. But then, I told him, how much time would I have to enjoy that material success? I would be on call 14 hours out of 24, during the training, with no thanks, except the gaining of experience. When and if I became successful, when would I have the time to enjoy holidays abroad, magnificent homes of my own and the latest stylish souped-up jalopies? I would have absolutely no time for any outside interest, except talking to my friends, where I would possibly boast of my own achievements and the things I had bought, all under the garb of asking their opinion about that particular lavish item.

Not only was this bad for our general health, because there could be a side effect due to any possible residue of chemicals which had not been washed away during the last rinsing. This is why this collection of grandma's household hints, is going to be very useful for all those people who prefer natural or easily available remedies, and solutions available right there in the kitchen or gardens. Apart from your home and kitchen, you are going to find long forgotten hints, which were used by your and my grandma to get rid of stains, preserve clothes from pests, and other tips, which may sound very amusing and surprising in this day and age. But you should remember that grandma was brought up in times when she had to watch every penny of grandpa's limited income and make it stretch until it screeched. That is why, she was more prone to using her own natural good sense, inborn shrewdness, or knowledge passed to her from her own grandmother, friends, relatives, and from her neighbors too. In fact, they used to meet once in a while, and exchange household tips, which may have gone something like this "Oh, Mrs...., I have found it so easy to remove stains from my hands, by just rubbing a lemon over them, and I prevent chapping by drying my hands after I have done the washing and then rubbing a pinch of starch all over the surface, "all the while waving those same unchapped stainless hands in the air.

Everyone uses the word "depression" almost every day; people have started using it as an abbreviation for their everyday glitches and fatigues. For instance a person usually says, "I'm depressed" when in reality he/she means, "I'm exhausted and angry because I lost my job". For most cases, there is not much to worry about as these are the ups and downs of life, which everyone has to face at some point, but with true depression you have a low mood and other characteristic symptoms for most part of the day. If left untreated, these symptoms can further complicate and affect your day to day life. To define it, depression is a medical illness that results in a continuous feeling of gloominess and lack of interest; it affects the person's thinking, feelings and behavior. There are six known types of depression: - Major Depression. - Chronic Depression. - Bipolar Disorder. - Seasonal Affective Disorder. - Psychotic Depression - Postpartum Depression Surveys reveal that two in three adults suffer from depression at some point in their lives. Sometimes it's not that serious and the sad feelings fade within a few weeks. However, about 1 in 4 women and 1 in 10 men undergo an episode of depression that requires some treatment. Most people choose an artificial, 'take the pill' treatment over natural and less painful treatments; this book is all about natural cures and the magnitude of their effectiveness when compared to clinical treatments. So delve right in and get rid of that darkness that spoils every joy in your life.

Chest Congestion Throat Infections Healing Cuts and Bruises Clove - Cinnamon Ointment Cloves in Making Masalas Garam Masala Lamb Roast with Cloves Dal Fry Anyone for Tempering? Conclusion Winter oil Introduction I remember my father recounting a traditional and ancient Persian poem to me, which he had learned when his grandmother was busy cooking in the kitchen. She was just following ancient traditions, when women from the Mogul times - 14th-century - sang this song for fun in the kitchen, while cooking and amusing their kids at the same time. The translation from the vernacular goes something like this - Clove and cardamom - good pals they Went for a forbidden swim for kicks. And soon we heard Clove yelling. "Golly, cardamom has gone for a six ". ¬ and so on, in more hilarious verses, about how clove would and could not bother to drag the drowning cardamom out of the water, because he would get wet, catch a cold, his momma had told him not to go swimming, and so on! Until cardamom came out of the water and both went home. Home, meaning the tummy of a gourmet who would appreciate the presence of cloves and cardamom in his delicately seasoned dish. The Association of cloves and cardamoms have been a part of the lives of spices in the East. Where you put in a couple of ground cloves, you may be asked whether you want to add some more cardamoms in, too. Most often, you say yes, because after all that is going to increase the taste quotient. Cloves also go well with cinnamon, star anise, basil and pepper. Nevertheless, this book is going to tell you all about the magic of cloves, which has been considered to be one of the most precious spices treasured down the centuries by the West. Wars were fought for cardamoms, cinnamon, pepper and cloves. Trade routes to the Indies, and to the East were jealously guarded by adventurous traders in the West. Cloves first originated in Indonesia from where traders took them all over the world, in ancient times. In fact, 3000 years ago, a Chinese emperor asked his courtiers to chew ding xiang in order to keep their breath fresh, when they came into his presence. Apart from its use in medicine, it was, and is also used extensively to add taste, sweetness, and warmth to a dish. Archaeologists have found traces of cloves in archaeological excavations going back to 1721 BC in Syria. So this shows how long this great and precious spice has been associated with mankind.

These vegetables can include spinach, lettuce, cabbage leaves, and other green vegetables which are low in calories. No wonder so many dietitians recommend lots of salads as an excellent dieting food. Apart from these greens, salads can also be dishes of bite-size pieces, mixed with salad dressing or with spices and sauce So who were the first people to eat salads? According to historical books, the ancient Romans and Greeks were the first persons who mixed up greens with olive oil, and a salad dressing to eat as an accompaniment to their meals. The word Salad in itself comes from the Latin word for salt- salata- due to the reason that the Romans made a salad dressing of vinegar as well as brine or salt in which the salad greens were put before serving. Ancient Roman or Greek citizens kept good health with massages of olive oil, lots of exercise, and plenty of greens in salads. This book is going to tell you how you can grow salads in your garden so that you can have access to a lot of greens, whenever they want to toss a fresh salad. It does not matter whether you have a large garden or a small garden, salads can be grown anywhere, and if the weather is inclement, you can grow them under cloches and glass. This means that the tender plants are going to be covered with a bell-shaped covering to protect it from the cold wind and harsh weather. So even if you have a tiny garden, of let us say 28 feet long, and 12 feet wide, you can concentrate on growing herbs and salads here. The garden. I am going to talk about is going to be a small garden, which you can call your Salad Garden.

This book is for all those people who are interested in growing peas and beans in their garden. You may never have heard of some of these beans or pea varieties, because we are so used to thinking of beans as broad beans, French beans, runner beans and so on. However, the beans as well as peas, which are going to be described here are easy to grow from seed. If they are given plenty of sun and water, they are going to flourish anywhere on the Earth. One of the advantages of growing these vegetables in your garden is that they are hardly attacked by diseases and pests. That is because beans are really hardy and sturdy. In the same manner, peas, if grown in sunny spots, and in soil which does not have too much of water in it are hardly attacked by flies and insects.

What is a true flying squirrel? What is a terrestrial squirrel? What is an Oriental giant squirrel? Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction Squirrels are cute little critters we see running around our forests and sometimes our backyards. With their fluffy tails and small bodies, they have enchanted many writers and storytellers. From the nimble squirrel fighters in the Redwall series by Brian Jacques to Nutkin from the Beatrix Potter book, squirrels are generally portrayed well, even if sometimes they can be a little dumb. Some people don't like squirrels because they eat from bird feeders and scare away the birds; however, squirrels do a lot for their environment. Many an acorn or other seed stored and forgotten by a squirrel grows into a new tree, helping the forest continue to grow. There is something so rascally and adorable about squirrels; maybe it's their great climbing ability, or the way they chase each other across lawns and up trees. Either way, squirrels are an animal that deserves a little attention.

Blessed be the man, who found out millenniums ago that there were grains, vegetables and fruit, which could be eaten and enjoyed. After that, there were other herbs which could enhance the taste of the pottages he made with the fruit, vegetables and grain. And then came more plant products, which he called spices, which would improve, enrich and heighten the eating experience. These spices were dried flowers, nuts, pieces of bark and other parts of trees, bushes and shrubs growing around him. Mankind did not instantly and instinctively get to know about these herbs and spices. He just observed his livestock eating some dried berries without any harm coming to them. So he tried those berries with fear and trembling. This is how coffee was discovered millenniums ago by a goat herder in far-off exotic Araby. He saw his goats munching on the dried berries of a plant. After that, he noticed that those goats were rather frisky and more energetic than their other companions. This adventurous goat herder, decided to collect the berries and grind them, because otherwise, they did not seem to be easily digestible. His wife must have told him to put them in water so that they could soften. Possibly they did not soften, but somebody drank that water. And that somebody showed quite an energetic display of enthusiasm and joie de vivre on a caffeine high. And so coffee was discovered. So what is the ruling that many of the spices discovered by mankind down the millenniums were found in just such a chance manner? Some spices are indigenous to particular areas of the world. That is why, they were very precious and used only by aristocrats. Medieval knights going away on their crusades were always told by their ladies to bring home spices. Not only would they gain respect in the eyes of their neighbors for having gone on The Crusades, but they could always sell the spices and become really rich. Well, they were just following the patterns of their ancestors millenniums ago, when Kings, princes and captured aristocrats were ransomed in spices.

Table of Contents Introduction Reasons for Black Moods Tips For Controlling Black Moods Taking That Chance Facing a Disappointment Laughter and Music Therapy Sleep - the Great Restorer Meditation and Exercise Plant and Garden Therapy Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction Being human beings, especially in an age where stress and strain, as well as tension is a part of human life, is it a surprise that most of us keep suffering from tension induced Black moods. Call them whatever you like - bad tempered, tantrums, disinclination to enjoy anything, gruffness, and a feeling that there is no joy left in life and what is the use of continuing to struggle on in a thankless existence? This book is going to tell you all about Black moods and depression and how they can be potentially harmful for your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. There are a number of people all over the world who spend most of their lives in the depths of despair. When asked the reason why their mood is so pessimistic, or gloomy, they do not have a definite explanation for this phenomenon. Many times this is just to gain attention and soon it becomes a chronic habit because those persons find out that there are going to be people around them trying to coax and cajole them into a better temper. I remember enjoying one of DE Stevenson's very well written books "The Blue Sapphire" in which the young heroine Julia Harcourt is really glad to get away from her house. Her father was a charming young man, and spoiled in the bargain by his family and the people around him. He imagined that he could get away with anything. And he did something unforgivable for which the family never forgave him. So he spent the rest of his life, making his wife and daughter's life miserable, because spoiled brats get depressed when they do not get their own way. And as she said to her uncle Randall, "father has spent his life wrapped up in a brown blanket. He never loved me. He has always been miserable. "And his daughter escaped that house of gloom and melancholy as soon as she could, and never went back again. So if you are subject to those fits of Black moods, not only are you make the people around you unhappy and miserable, but you are also going to suffer from plenty of psychological, emotional, physical and mental problems.

Amazing Islands on planet earth A Few Fun facts! Conclusion: Author Bio Publisher Introduction Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better Albert Einstein *** Islands: Islands are amazing! They are a beautiful part of planet Earth and add lots of color and life to the World around us. Have you ever been to an island before? What did you like about it? What didn't you like? If you have never been to an island, would you like to go? What do you think you might see there? Any ideas? Don't worry! This little book is going to give you lots of fascinating tips about islands and how fun it can be to visit. You might even want to live there for a while! Are you ready? Then let's get started! First things first: What is an Island? Answer: An Island is a piece of land surrounded by water. You can find them in the ocean, rivers, and even lakes! Some islands are big and some are small. If an island is very small, they are called: keys, cays, or islets. This is a cute way of saying: small island. If there is a group of islands or a lot of them together, they are called an Archipelago. Does this name sound strange to you? Can you guess where it came from? This word is a geographic term, which means it is related to geography. And geography tells us where things are located on a map. So this word: Archipelago comes from the Aegean Sea. Can you find this on a map? Ask your parent or a guardian to help you search if you are unable to find it on your own. The word literally means: Chief Sea. Not all islands are Archipelagos, but some of them are. Places like: Japan, the British Isles, New Zealand, the Philippines, and the Hawaiian Islands are Archipelagos.

This is the French word for what is a kitchen garden. In Scotland, they call it a Kailyaird, or simply the yard where you are going to grow your family's necessary requirements of fresh fruit and vegetables, depending on the space available. During the First World War this was called a Victory garden. This is the place which is not going to be cluttered up with lots of sweet smelling blossoms. It is going to be reserved just for vegetables and herbs, which are ready to go right into your cooking pot. Also, the lawn area is definitely not going to be utilized in the making of a potager. Leave that particular area to the grass. A kitchen garden - also known as a vegetable plot - has been used by mankind for centuries, in order to grow their own vegetables. That is because man would rather have easy access to his food, then go out hunting for it. And that is what made him add fruit and vegetables to his daily diet, instead of substance on just animal products like meat, fish, and game, which needed to be hunted in all weather, depending on the need and requirement of the tribe and family. And that is why he began domesticating farm animals. But we, a large number of us who are town dwellers or city dwellers, have supposedly lost touch with our roots, no pun intended, and that is why we can not imagine ourselves grubbing in the family farms or plots, from dawn to dusk, in order to get enough of a harvest to feed our families.
