A Defense Of Prejudice And Other Essays is a collection of philosophical essays written by John Grier Hibben. The book presents a series of arguments in defense of prejudice, which is defined as a preconceived opinion or judgment about a person or group of people. The first part presents Hibben's defense of prejudice, arguing that it is a necessary and rational aspect of human cognition. He also argues that prejudice is not inherently negative, and that it can be used for positive purposes such as promoting social cohesion and protecting individuals from harm. The second part of the book focuses on the nature of truth and knowledge, and Hibben's arguments against skepticism and relativism. He argues that there are objective truths that can be known, and that skepticism and relativism are ultimately self-defeating.The final part of the book explores the relationship between philosophy and religion. Hibben argues that philosophy and religion are complementary disciplines, and that they both have important roles to play in understanding the nature of reality and the human condition.Overall, A Defense Of Prejudice And Other Essays is a thought-provoking and challenging work that explores some of the most fundamental questions in philosophy. Hibben's arguments are well-reasoned and supported by a deep understanding of the history of philosophy, making this book an important contribution to the field. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
