Anyone who loves Halloween and has moved away from their childhood stomping ground will relate to this story. My November Halloween is a touching short story about the experience that I had when I returned to my old town due to the death of a loved relative. The years of guilt and regret that piled up came to an intense boil upon my return. Alone with only the thoughts of my childhood memories, my redemption came in the form of a paranormal experience that changed my life forever. My November Halloween takes place in a house that was in the family for generations. This was a large Northeastern house that was the location of many family gatherings. As a child, this house belonged to my grandmother and it would sometimes spook the hell out of me. The tall ceilings and unusually large rooms gave me the feeling that another presence was there. Nevertheless, I always loved that house and it holds some of my most cherished memories. I was nine years old when my family moved away taking me from all I had ever known. All of my friends and relatives were taken out of my world. The heartache of the separation haunted me for years. Slowly, time seemed to heal the heartbreak of missing my friends and family. Guilt hit me hard because I felt that I was no longer missing my loved ones. Years later, I returned to that house under circumstances that made me carry back all of those years of guilt and regret. But, something was waiting for me in that house! Imagine years after you have seemingly healed from a broken childhood that you return back into the fold with newly charged emotions combined with those lost feelings resurfacing even stronger than ever. It feels like your mind is playing tricks on you. How far will your imagination travel while under the heartbreak of losing someone close to you? I had aged over the years, but it seemed like time had stood still in my old town. Memories and feelings that I had long forgotten about came flooding back to me like nothing had changed. What happened in the hours ahead was something that most do not experience in their lifetime let alone believe it to be possible. After these events, I was left with these questions and thoughts that are not meant to be answered by any person... When people leave this world, do they really leave? Is there a way for those who have left us to still be active in our lives? But most importantly what is their purpose? Are they there to help us in our lives, to guide us, to correct us, or even to punish us? We have all heard the stories about people catching glimpses of ghosts out of the side of their vision. Or they get silhouettes appearing right in front of their eyes. They can be overcome with feelings that seem to be from a dream. Sometimes you hear stories of people seeing reflections in the TV when the screen is dark. Or they catch sight of a black smoky mist in the shape of a person appearing right in front of them. I have always wondered about our journeys in life. If they really end when we "die" or if we continue on but just on a different level or in another realm. I never had any proof of this either way but just because someone is no longer alive that doesn't necessarily mean they are really dead and gone. I've heard a lot of ghost stories. But, there was only one way for me to be convinced...

The streets were empty and dark. There was a downpour drenching everything. I drove up to the red light and stopped there. All I could hear was the rain beating down on the metal of the car along with my windshield wipers and the sporadic thunder. As I was waiting for the light to change, I was startled to see a man standing on the median. I had not seen him as I was pulling up to the light and I jumped in my seat. He was under an umbrella, which he was holding in one hand and in the other hand was a stack of drenched newspapers. No other cars or people were anywhere to be seen. We were alone. He walked up to my car holding the umbrella so it would block the rain if I opened the window. As I rolled it down, the man had a big smile and he started to say something... BOOM! A thunder blast sounded just as I pulled the trigger. The loud thunderbolt masked any sound that came from my gun. I got him in the head, but he was on the ground still alive. The sound of his suffering charged me with energy and filled me with satisfaction. I shot him again to end it and drove off. Everybody in every situation believes they are one of the good guys...... Could you stand by and watch a friend's slow demise? How far would you go to save someone from their own destruction? What choices would you make when you are sucked into their world and find out what you are really up against? One man's struggle to help his friend leads him to a world where he quickly realizes things are not as simple as they seem and the line between right and wrong is blurred. They say there is a fine line between love and hate. But there is an even finer line between sinner and saint. How do you deal with a friend with a drug addiction? If you have ever experienced this, you may have lost all faith in the person. You may have come to believe that every word out of the person's mouth was a lie. It becomes very easy to just throw the friendship away. But, if you come to terms with the fact that the lies are there because your friend is sick, you can put yourself in the position to help. First you need to know the signs associated with addiction and how to spot them. I was a passenger in my friend's car when he stopped to buy drugs. Since I had no idea that he had even started using drugs, I was definitely not prepared for the shock of witnessing the purchase. Imagine the ride home after a life long friend had made the purchase. So many things go through your mind. How can you stop them from using drugs? How can you help them? How can you just end it? Also available for only .99 cents on Kindle.

In the 1940's North Korea, free at last from Japanese tyranny, planned to dominate the South. The North massively increased agricultural yield through development of agro-chemicals. An off-shoot of that was covert crop contamination, to decimate harvests of their enemies, but the Korean war meant the project was mothballed. In the 1990's chemical warfare was taken forward, covertly supported by China. By 2011North Korea was damaging crops in the United States and Canada, the Ukraine, France and Britain. War in Ukraine and the influx of refugees to Europe have allowed the North Korean regime to capitalise on chaos and advance their military and nuclear programmes. This book details the discovery of those issues, and the terrible price paid. This is Kim's revenge, and the nuclear-capable North Korea we all feared. America will never laugh at Kim again, and if you live in an American metropolis anywhere near the coast you may like to move away now.
Human populations need methods and technologies to clean waters and diminish the environmental dangers related to technological progress. Biosorption can be one such solution to clean up metal contamination. In the present study P.aeruginosa and B.subtilis was isolated from rhizosphere soil by serial dilution and plate count technique. Both free and immobilized form of isolates were tested for the biosorption of chromium (Cr), molybdenum (Mo), iron (Fe) and copper (Cu). Both the strains were able to remove metal from solutions. Free cells of B.subtilis and P.aeruginosa showed maximum iron removal 86.6% and 92.2% respectively. Free cells of B.subtilis is better in chromium removal (92%) that P.aeruginosa. and B.subtilis was equally effective in the removal of copper (98.1%). Maximum microorganism removal was observed with immobilized cells of B.subtilis; 87.5%. agitation increases the rate of biosorption when compared to static condition. The experiments were also conducted at 37°C and showed slight increase in the rate of biosorption. Microbial metal bioremediation is an efficient strategy due to its low cost, high efficiency and eco-friendly nature. This work summarize the potential of micros in metals remediation.
The study was designed to investigate the antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory efficiency of aqueous extract of dried papaya and castor seeds, which are known to possess various therapeutic properties and economical applications. Microtiter Plate Assay method was used to find out antimicrobial analysis. The aqueous extract has a good antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and the inhibitory percentage for papaya and castor are 79.9% and 85% respectively with the maximum concentration used in this. The anti-inflammatory action is done by HRBC Membrane Stabilization Assay and papaya and castor seed extract showed 56% and 46% inhibition with the maximum concentration used in this. Thus the seeds can be suggested us the preventive agents in diseases and conditions like cancer, edema, tumour, diabetics, anti-viral, cardiovascular diseases, neuro- degenerative diseases to certain extent.

Seminar paper from the year 2018 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, , language: English, abstract: The International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is a high quality and principle based reporting standards that remove many accounting alternatives. It is therefore, consequently expected to limit the management¿s discretion and lessen practices on earnings management. Quite the opposite, some researchers argue that the flexibility in IFRS and its fair value pre-eminence might afford greater opportunities for firms to manage earnings. It is this inaptness which incited and aggravated the conduct of this study. This study applies a desktop review to investigate the worldwide existing empirical research evidence on the effect of IFRS on earnings management post- IFRS adoption and in relation to other reporting standards and reports whether the results are indistinguishable between developed and developing economies. Accounting research in developed economies has long identified earnings management as a means by which managers manipulate financial reports to mislead other stakeholders on the underlying economic performance of the firm. However, earnings management research did not receive much attention in developing countries such as Nigeria until recently. The findings reveal that the existing empirical crams and conclusions there on are mixed, inconsistent and difficult to generalise. This indicates the pressing need for country, especially Nigeria to engage on studies of this nature. The study further, stumbles on the fact that IFRS can indistinctly benefit both developing and developed markets when coupled with appropriate effective enforcement machinery. Substantially, the results entail that IFRS is a critical determinant for quality reporting but not a ¿prima facie¿ guarantor for quality reporting.
Essay from the year 2018 in the subject Business economics - Controlling, grade: 3'81, , language: English, abstract: This study examines the effect of internal controls on financial accountability in the public sector. The study adopts a survey design method with a population of sixty respondents consisting of staff of the Accountant General Office in Benue state, Nigeria using questionnaire in generating primary data from respondents. The statistical tool used for testing the hypotheses is the Chi-square statistics. The findings revealed that internal controls instituted in public sector are in compliance with COSO integrated framework which is used in detecting errors and fraud. The study also revealed that internal controls have significant role in the management of financial resources allocated to public sector and that management staff in public sector interfere with the effective administration of internal control procedures. In line with these findings, we recommend that the internal control in Nigerian Public sector be constantly reviewed by management so as to be in line with national and international best practices in order to reduce irregularities, inaccuracies, fraud and errors; All employees and those in charge of managing financial resources should constantly be schooled ¿ workshops, seminars, as well as in-service trainings so as to enable them to be conversant with matters relating to internal controls; Management staff interfering with the internal control should be sanctioned accordingly to serve as a deterrent to others to desist from such acts; and finally, auditors should be encouraged to expose wrong doings and apply the rules as and at when the situation demands.
John Joseph wants men to know, in no uncertain terms, that they don't need to eat steak, burgers, wings, ribs, or any other animal product, for that matter, to be strong--in fact, he would argue, eating animals is for the weak. Because when your protein sources come from animals, you're missing out on all of the nutritional benefits of a plant-based diet--a diet that can make you more fit, more sexy, and more manly. In Meat is for Pussies, Joseph presents a throw-down of information, offering both personal and scientific evidence that a plant-based diet offers the best path to athleticism, endurance, strength, and overall health. In addition to handily dispelling the myths surrounding meat, Joseph offers workout advice, a meal plan, and recipes that make going plant-based easy. Flavor and vitamin-packed options like the Working Man Stew and Veggie Chili with Cornbread will keep men's (and women's) bodies healthy and energized, while workouts that emphasize cardio and strength training build endurance and stamina and prove that you don't need meat to build muscle.Joseph also offers living proof that living a plant-based lifestyle is badass, from super-athlete Brendan Brazier to MMA champion Jake Shields to Joseph himself, who is an Ironman Triathlete and still rocking out (at the age of fifty-two) on world tours as the frontman for his legendary band the Cro-Mags. Joseph's passion for educating the world about the benefits of a plant-based diet comes through on each page, in a voice and a vocabulary that is uniquely his own. At the end of the day, he wants readers to live a long, healthy, happy life . . . and he won't take no for an answer.
John Joseph's life is explained in vibrant, simplistic and very touching ways by a man who has devoted himself to helping others. This is an outstanding memoir, somewhat in the style of The Education Of Little Tree. We not only learn about the ancient trade language of the Mohawk people but also how certain Plains Indian medicine ways were adopted by John later in life. We learn about the Sun Ceremony and burial rites where the spirits of ancestors return to bless and propitiate the grave site. As a medic in the Vietnam War, John Joseph served his country with distinction and then when he was discharged continued to serve others in the capacity of a nurse practitioner in private life. As a lover of animals he tells what it was like to have a porcupine in the family as well as a deer. The reader is permitted to have a window into the the life of a private man who is eloquent, wise and loving to his family and his friends. Most interestingly, in later life, John has spent years caring for vets with PTSD. His unusual insight into what happens to someone whose life has been turned upside by war becomes a paen to innocence, love and charity in the true sense of the word. Quite simply, this is the moving story of a true healer who blesses others as he heals them with the heart.
