The novel is different from the traditional French novels. It is the strange story of a Fakir who comes to Paris by airplane to buy a new IKEA bed of nails. He is trapped in a wardrobe, which is going to be sent to England. The novel is a huge hit and is translated into 39 languages across the globe. Puértolas is a French border guard who investigates the affairs of illegal immigrants in Paris. As he himself states, he wrote the novel on his mobile phone during his travels from home to work. The novel depicts the lives of African refugees and illegal immigrants who have fled their countries on cracked old boats. It is written in an attractive and humorous language, especially the name of the characters such as the Fakir Ajatashatru Lavash Patel is humorous (his name in French resembles the phrase: "he has swallowed the steeled screw." The novel describes impossible events in such a way that they can be believed to have happened. The story has a high speed and one can swiftly read it.

Sepanta The novel depicts the life of a young man, born to a second generation of exiles in Europe. He is a journalist and photographer with a focus on war photography. He is the only son of a couple who have unwillingly got a child. The parents are separated. The novel depicts the problematic relationship between the father and the son. The father has left the son long time ago but the son is determined to find him. It is a search for identity. It is the identity of all the characters who play a role in a complex narrative, from his father's mistress to war reporters who use anything to reach their goals, not even sparing the sick father. The narrator searches unknowingly for his identity, digging so deep into his father's past that he finally identifies himself with the father. Sepanta is a novel of love which furtively looks at social and political events in a country in which unfortunately humanity, like God, is dead. Sepanta is a novel critically reviewing the characters' thoughts and conducts, reviewing the politics of a world entangled in war. A war which uses weapons to reach power and wealth, and a mental war of individuals who fight for survival. Each in its own way, without the presence of an arbiter. The narrator is just one of them.

The Multitudes is a roman written by Mr. Koushyar Parsi. This novel describes the unfortunate and misery of those who, in the hope of a moment of freedom and a bite of bread without flattering, are left behind them self all they had and moved to other countries without any understanding of people, their language and culture.

Unfortunately, this is not only the destiny of Maqsood the imaginary character of the novel, but also the destiny of many people with flesh and blood. Dimitri Verhulst spent a few days in a refugee camp in Belgium to write a report on asylum seekers in 2001 at the request of a literary journal. The Problemski Hotel is an imaginary story based real events. It is a collection of events depicting how life deteriorates when a cigarette box is the most valuable capital, and when visiting a church is to kill the time. Bipul Masli is the unfortunate narrator from Ethiopia, a former photographer, who fled his country after a riot. Longing for a better life, he ends up in a refugee camp in Belgium, where Dimitri Verhulst lives. The author describes vividly the fortunate and less fortunate moments of people who are ordained to the same destiny. Despite the book's painful subject, Verhulst's depiction is filled with satire and comic scenes, although this satire may not often be cheerful, but it is touching. Dimitri Verhulst allows the moments to anchor in his soul enabling him to pen his observations on paper. Not having lived in a cave for years without any access to media, one will certainly know that Verhulst is not an unfamiliar name in the world literature. The reader will immediately see Verhulst's virtuosity at reading this book. Once Aristotle said: "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts" and one can see this in Verhulst's book. The Problemski Hotel consists of 23 sections, each about 4 pages. Although one can read each part independently, the book runs coherently from the beginning to the end, bringing the reader closer to the author and the narrator. In the shortest possible way, Verhulst says much about a terrible life in asylum.

Kaddish Baray-e Yek Kos(Kaddish for a Cunt) is a story about the lives of children in an institution, who are separated from a normal life. The title of the novel is chosen to depict the sad and deplorable life of the children. The narrator is witnessing the dead body of a child, and mourns his death. The narrator himself has just been released from the institution and has started a new life in society. Nasim Khaksar, about Kaddisj voor een kut: "I was in the middle of the book that I made a note: 'this is not a book to read.' I wrote that I cannot know how much these few sentences that I am writing are fitting for this novel. You must have a heart of steel to read it. This is a book resembling a calm melody that can sometimes make you smile like a pleasant music. As it gently progresses, it is like dashing waves throwing you on the beach of your existence, in such a way that you cannot know from where these blows have come from. These waves which bring the pieces of the first hand realities address you: "Look, what has happened with the children of a seemingly innocent orphanage. Have you heard a thousand times about the realities Dimitri has depicted on these few pages, Dimitri's direct experiences put you against the wall making you believe that these painful and shocking realities are for the first time that you are hearing." The last seven sentences, is an interpretation of Joseph Haydn's music entitled Die sieben letzten Worte unseres Erlösers am Kreuze. The seven short stories are based on the last seven sentences uttered by Jesus Christ on the Cross. Yet in these stories, there is no sign of religion. Dimitri Verhulst succeeds quite well in offering a strong and at times humorous picture of mankind's suffering in today's societies. There is, for instance, a Jewish mother who is waiting for the return of her child from Nazi camps. The author makes the reader think about life, experiencing the meaning of suffering. Using simple words and a neutral account of the events, the author bases the modern life on seven sentences, which were pronounced more than two thousand years ago on the cross. Dimitry Verhulst warns that these stories are not an interpretation of the Bible but he is actually trying to distance himself from the holy book. His stories are far from the Bible, they are inspired by people's lives, with flesh and blood, people who know love and death. A little of everyone's lives, because the author thinks that everyone should identify himself with the stories. The Dutch edition of the book is accompanied by a CD by Haydn and the author's voice reading the novel.
