From the One who said multiple times, "I tell you the truth," flows forth "grace and truth." Even antagonistic listeners testified that, "This man speaks with authority." Soldiers sent to arrest him came back empty-handed saying, "No one ever spoke like this man." Something in His demeanor on the cross at Calvary caused the soldier to exclaim, "Surely this was the Son of God." When He spoke, the Word of God was flowing forth; resonating in people's hearts like a wooden instrument resonates at the plucking or striking of strings. Even now His words bear witness that this Person is the Voice of Truth from whom we were created. Truth seekers respond like a newborn child responds to their mother's voice which they have heard already in the womb. As we embrace the One who said, "I am the Truth," we also are sent to proclaim grace and truth with our lives.
Beauty is refreshing, rejuvenating, and renewing, but who is this Lord of glory and terribly awesome beauty? "The Lord God is a sun and shield, He gives grace and glory, no good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly." For the most part, humans are not attracted to darkness, rather to the inviting warmth of light. Scripture declares in Him there is only light; no darkness at all. As Christ is revealed, John says, "In Him was life and that life was the light of men." I cannot help but think that if all He has made is beautiful, how beautiful He must be face to face! My desire is that we also will have our eyes enlightened as we further explore aspects of His beauty.
