Long before scientists took the possibility of travelling to the Moon seriously, virtually all of its aspects had already been explored in art and literature. Our nearest astronomical neighbour, the Moon -- just three days journey by spacecraft -- still serves as an object of creative projection and speculation for visionaries across the globe. More than five decades after the first moonwalk, the book Memories of the Moon-Age traces a visual cultural history of lunar exploration in snapshots from the past, present, and future. This inspiring journey through history ranges from Ptolemy's early calculations of the distance from the Earth to the Moon and Galilei's invention of the telescope and his pen drawings of the lunar surface to the golden age of space travel in the mid-twentieth century with Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey and the concrete preparations for the Apollo Moon landing.

Jeewi Lee is interested in all the traces-the intimate imprints and distinctive markings-that we leave behind and that inhabit the spaces surrounding us. Abstract compositions of rescued stories, worn-out pavements and stripped down wallpapers, cut out floors, grains of sand that have traveled millions of years around the world, coffee stains or burnt wood. These traces, both human and historical, become vessels of stories and memories, inscribed on various materials, bearing witness to the past, present, and future. This publication offers a comprehensive exploration of the manifold tracings of the Berlin-based Korean artist over the past decade. It provides insight into her highly conceptual way of working and unveils previously unseen documentation of her deeply personal process of creation.JEEWI LEE (*1987, Seoul) is a Berlin-based South Korean-German artist. She studied painting at the Berlin University of the Arts and at Hunter College University in New York, graduating in 2014 with a master in fine arts and since 2018 holds an MFA from the postgraduate program Art in Context. Her multidisciplinary practice encompasses site-specific installations and interventions, video and image series that predominantly deal with traces that question our visual perception, while also reflecting their own production process.

Das Handbuch für eine soziale, ökologische und existenzielle Utopie erscheint anlässlich der Ausstellung Life on Planet Orsimanirana (Leben auf dem Planeten Orsimanirana). Nach eigenem Verständnis handelt es sich dabei um das "collidoscope" (Kollision und Kaleidoskop zugleich) eines dezentralen, nichthierarchischen und generativen Prozesses, in dem eine heterogene Gruppe lokaler und internationaler Kollektive, Aktivist*innen, Künstler*innen und Designer*innen Welten entwirft. Es lässt diese ganz unterschiedlichen, auseinanderlaufenden Positionen in einen visuellen Bewusstseinsstrom münden. Dadurch soll - vor dem Hintergrund der sozialen, ökologischen und existenziellen Krisen, mit denen wir heute konfrontiert sind - ein heiteres Fundament gelegt werden, um die Welt zu errichten, in der wir leben wollen: auf praktischen, imaginären und symbolischen Ebenen. Tulga Beyerle ist Designerin und Kuratorin. Seit 2018 leitet sie das Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg. It brings together these varying and divergent positions in a visual stream of consciousness. It thereby aims to lay a joyful groundwork to create the world we want to live-against the backdrop of the social, ecological and existential crises we face today-on a practical, imaginary as well as symbolic level.Tulga Beyerle is a designer and curator. She is director of the Museum für Kunst & Gewerbe, Hamburg. Lukas Feireiss is working internationally across disciplinary boundaries in the fields of art, culture, and contemporary reflexivity.
