Sweet Pea is a hardworking bunny who lives in a grassy green hole by the stream. She has just returned from her Journey (Book 3) when things hit bottom: her boat Pea Pod sinks to the bottom of the river! To buy a new boat, she must get a job but finds there is no easy way to fill her bunny bank. She tries baking, potting, hammering, digging and weaving. She works for a bistro, a library, a store and more but nothing seems to fit! Will Sweet Pea find a job she likes? That she can keep? That won't end in disaster? Join a persistent Sweet Pea as she goes from job to job to job, cheered on by an indomitable String Bean. This fourth book in the Sweet Pea Tales series is written and illustrated by Marcia Leiter with hand painted watercolor illustrations. 48 pages. Hardcover. Includes Seek & Find and Jobs from A to Z.
In this third Sweet Pea Tale, Sweet Pea is fed up! Her Christmas Hospitality has left her home a big MESS and she wants to get out of there! She tosses a few necessities into her boat and sails South in search of warmer waters. One misadventure after another does not deter Sweet Pea from continuing bravely onward. Will she reach her destination? How many friends will she collect along the way? Sail along with Sweet Pea on this unlikely journey. As in all the Sweet Pea Tales, there is more than one story going on. Mice, birds, chipmunks, turtles, squirrels and bugs are small but important actors in the story. It takes keen eyes to discover all the visual humour and tiny details embeded in the pictures. At the end of the story, a map of her journey reveals to the reader some information of which Sweet Pea is blissfully unaware; yet it proves that the Journey is sometimes more important than the Destination. Activities at the end of the book are included: Make an Origami Boat, I Spy Travel Games and Seek & Find. Written & illustrated by Marcia Leiter. Birdberry Press Copyright 2018. 48 pages of full-color original watercolor illustrations.
