This is a book about some of the books I love and some of the books I have written. It includes short excerpts of many books in my library with critical commentary (and I don't necessarily mean in the negative). This book puts me over the top at 100 books written and published, so it is appropriate that I prove my love of books and hit the century mark with this Book About Books.

This is a collection of stories and essays that have to do with African heritage of the United States of America. This is a short. basic history of the United States from the Inauguration of George Washington to the Election of Andrew Jackson. It is a big-font book and is 49,000 words long.

Of all the countless thousands of books written about the Presidency of William H. Harrison, this is the only one written by a stand-up comedian named Mike. Poor Harrison only lasted 30 days. It wasn't a very good start for the Whigs. Harrison was a genuine American war hero, having won a major brawl at Tippecanoe. This is short (10,000 words) book in large (16) font. This book has been awarded best William H. Harrison short biography of 2018, by the prestigious Donovan Magazine.

This a book of short biographies of the Presidents of the USA, up to the time they became the Chief Executive.

The story of the United States in the time of James Polk is, primarily, the story of the Mexican War. This book (16,500 words in 16-font) does not believe that the USA was the over the top bad guy in the origins of that war. Segments in here (besides Mexico) include The Tregedar Iron Strike; Oneidatown, Beverly Williams, and the Oregon boundary dispute.

This is a short basic history of the Great Depression and the Presidency of FDR in the years 1939 to 1933. It ends in September when World War II changed the picture and bailed Roosevelt out of a hopeless bind. FDR's New Deal never solved the Depression, but World War II did. There's some material in here about labor (AFofL vs CIO) and a few segments on American Communism in the 1930's. The last third of the book focuses on foreign relations and how Cordell Hull, the Secretary of State, and Roosevelt handled the rising threats of Germany, Japan, and Italy. - Mike Donovan is a stand-up comedian at night and a writer by day. He blends the two in his history books, but the jokes don't upstage the basic drive to always be informative. - This book is rated G.

This is a very short (11,000 wd) history of the Presidency of Millard Fllmore. It is a fun and informative read. The main event of the Fillmore era was the Compromise of 1850. The death of President Zachary Taylor made the Compromise of 1850 possible. The slavery issue was pretty much the only issue that was on the minds of most Americans in Millard's time. This is a general history written with a touch of humor. Subjects covered include Uncle Tom's Cabin; the Christiana Riot; Narcisco Lopez, and the Perry Mission to Japan.

Van Buren is not rated one of America's best presidents, but this book is not very rough on him. It's short and basic and is intended for edutainment purposes only. Andrew Jackson's Vice President waltzed into the White House in 1836, beating Whig William H. Harrison; but Harrison won the re-match in 40. This is a 21,000 word, large font book about matters that have something to do with Spanish history. It is not a history of Spain. This first edition is comprised of two sections: The Spanish-American War of 1898 and the brutal Spanish Civil War of 1936-1939. The section on the Spanish-American War is written mostly from the American perspective, but the section on the Spanish Civil War (3/4 of the book) is definitely not.

This is a collection of material that has something to do with French History. Most of this material is culled from my other books, so this is for someone who has a preponderant reading interest in all matters France. It is not a comprehensive history of France. This edition is 102,000 words long and is 90% about France from 1914 to 1945. The author loves France but De Gaulle is not France, even though he thought he was. There is a lot in here about the shameful Vichy episode. It's hard to believe that even happened.

This book is incredibly useful for anyone who beleives that less is more and want to know THE BASICS, without too much clutter. This book is a pack of old fashioned flash cards. If you are studying to get on Jeopardy, or you just want to look smart wherever you go, this book is worth the price!
