This books is referred to a group of activities and individual procedures all of which are defined as "Ecclesiastical Music" and focuses on 19th century Smyrna. This book tries to evaluate the way Smyrna's special stylistic current got into the wider music reality of the era playing at the same time a modernize role in fields such as the conductive creativity, the teaching, the publication, etc.. The study of historical sources in combination with the disposition to interpretation of historical-sociological context of the area helped to show off the characteristics that defined the ideological-aesthetic feature of the movement as they secured its historical autonomy.
