The Korean War was fought between North Korea and South Korea from 1950 to 1953. The warbegan on 25 June 1950 when North Korea invaded South Korea following clashes along the borderand rebellions in South Korea.North Korea was supported by China and the Soviet Union while South Korea was supported by theUnited States and allied countries. The fighting ended with an armistice on 27 July 1953.In 1910, ImperialJapan annexed Korea, where it ruled for 35 years until its surrender at the end of World War II on 15August 1945. The United States and the Soviet Union divided Korea along the 38th parallel into twozones of occupation. The Soviets administered the northern zone, and the Americans administeredthe southern zone. In 1948, because of Cold War tensions, the occupation zones became two sovereignstates. A communist state, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, was established in the northunder the totalitarian rule of Kim Il Sung, while a capitalist state, the Republic of Korea, was establishedin the south under the autocratic leadership of Syngman Rhee. Both governments claimed to be thesole legitimate government of all of Korea, and neither accepted the border as permanent. Since PuertoRico is a commonwealth of the United States, every Boricua had to be prepared to fight any war thatthe United States was involved in. This is the story of my Grandfather Julio Pagan and my father Juan J.Pagan. Together they went to Korea and fought for our country.Norma Iris Pagan Morales was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He stroked his fingers through my hair. The tension between us is rising. He and Iboth know it's coming. I lean my head towards him, and he does the same. Our lipsconnect like magnets. The perfect kiss. After about 8 seconds, I slowly pulled my face away from his face and put it so thatmy nose would relate to his nose. He looks at me eagerly and smiles. We stayed in that position for about 5 minutes. Just by that kiss, we know moreabout each other than we could ever know. We were saving it for when we knew wewere truly right for each other.NORMA IRIS PAGAN MORALES IN LOVENorma Iris Pagan Morales was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. As I began to converse with him, within the moment of asnap, everything around me faded away to complete darkness; but then I heard adoor open and a voice."How are you? Still in bed! This book has four wonderful stories. I hope you enjoy them...The first story:LOVE HAS NO AGE BOUNDARYMark nearly laughed aloud when Betty signaled at him for several tense seconds as if she was trying to search out the deeper meaning of his words. He could tell the moment she'd brushed his comment aside, as if it was a joke, by the slight shake of her head.He wanted to grab hold of her and shake her. She was a brilliant woman, but for some reason, she always chose to play dumb when it came to his obvious flirting and comments. The second story:THE CLASS REUNIONThe Reunion tells the story of Diana Lopez, a talented opera singerwho returns to her fifteen-year high school reunion to face her past. Her tarnished reputation and the man she left behind, Roberto Cruz.Roberto never forgot Diana, but he questions whether love can survive fifteen years of separation until he comes face to face with her again. He knows what he wants, and that is her. Now he must convince Diana to finally let go of her past to embrace the love that awaits them just on the horizon of the future. The third story:NEW YORK CITY 'S GARMENT CENTERThe Creative Director of a high-end fashion label, Evelyn Torres, is a combination of brains and brass, who is an expert at spotting the latest trends, despite her own lack of style. But another good thing she's good at spotting is players. So, when her boss hires Lucas Bravo as the VP of Acquisitions she is less than thrilled.Although she accepted that he knows his stuff and is good at his job, he is nothing but a cavalier playboy who carries his good looks and charm like a weapon. But on a short business trip to New York, Evelyn comes to realizethat maybe she was wrong about Lucas when he shows her that sometimes what happens in New York doesn't always stay there. The fourth story:SPINSTERHOODSpinster is a term referring to an unmarried woman who is older than what is perceived as the prime age range duringwhich women usually marry. It can also indicate that a woman is considered unlikely to ever marry. In this story, you will see that a man is treated differently if he is not married. A female on the other hand, is a spinster. I will call this discrimination against us.Things did change as you read this story...Norma Iris Pagan Morales was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She comes from a very lovablefamily. People in Ponce, Puerto Rico, have been celebrating Carnival for over 250 years! Each year the Carnival lasts the whole month of February with parades, music, and special events. The Carnival is a special celebration before the Christian season of Lent, six weeks before Easter. During the Carnival, people make elaborate masks, dress up in costumes, dance, and play music. The National Museum of American History is fortunate to have many Carnival-related artifacts generously donatedby collector Teodoro Vidal. It all started at the Carnival in Ponce.Alicia knew that there were drugs all over the place. Little did she know that by making an exclusive interview withthe Narcos, she was risking her life and the rest of her crew.David wasn't her cup of tea. She couldn't stand the guy. On the other hand, David was a sweetheart. He was alwayshelping people in need.He was usually called, GI JOE.David had never cut it this close on a job before. His face and arms were covered in black paint. The black shirt andpants he wore were one of his standard uniforms, ones he'd been wearing for as long as he could remember. As he crouched down behind the small air conditioning unit next to the recently renovated house, he swore he'dnever cut it this close again.Norma Iris Pagan Morales was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. Is this love? What could the problem be? I kept thinking when I suddenlyremembered what occurred between her husband and I the previous night.Could she have found out? How did she get to know about it?My adrenaline began pumping uncontrollably. I'm finished. I don'twant to go back to that life of poverty. Just this one chance I wasgiven, and I messed up.I worked very hard for my aunt and her family. Whatever choreshe asked me to do, I did it thoroughly to the best of my humancapacity. I knew my purpose there and concentrated on it. That wasuntil my aunt's husband started making passes at me.Whenever Johnny came home from work, he would always ask aboutmy well-being. He would often ask if I had eaten and how I spentmy day.I was so free and open-hearted with him. I didn't take any ofhis profound kindness towards me seriously as I took him to be alovely and caring father who would take care of other children justlike his own. I looked at him as a father figure. In fact, we got so close to the extent I started calling him"dad" while he called me his baby. My aunt wasn't aware of all thishappening. It didn't take long before the sugar-coated kindness andaffection revealed it's hidden agenda.Norma Iris Pagan Morales was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. She comes from a very lovable family. There is no place for politics during an emergency. Politics play a role in how the Caribbean ismanaging during the tumultuous hurricane season. The longtime colonial rule isn't the only reason Caribbean societies and ecosystems are now sodefenseless. Many modern governments in the region are doing their part in making life generallyworse for the downgraded communities. From Jamaica to Belize, there is a widespread of corruption. There are rights violations. Thereis also a severe relationship of trust between people and the states. In theory, the government isassigned to protect its people when there are storms threaten them. The policies and practices intensify the Caribbean's shared and environmental risks. To surviveand flourish in this dangerous new normal, Caribbean countries would do well if they look at theseissues. They must rethink at the concept of risk and mindfully engage with factors like poverty, gender, and climate change.Puerto Rico is not exempt from the above-mentioned politics or any other source of the so-called protection.Norma Iris Pagan Morales was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico. La poesía es el arte convertido en palabras. Para muchos, un verso nos trae recuerdos de una relación que nunca se logró. A otros una poesía les inspira y los ayuda a reflexionar diariamente.

This book is about poetry. In my writings, I explained what is a poem. This book is unique because the explanations are very clear. I explained that poetry is a collection of spoken or written words that expresses ideas or emotions. Those words are written in a powerfully vivid and imaginative style. They cover a particular rhythmic and metrical pattern. In fact, it is a literary technique. Let me tell you that it is different from a prose or even ordinary speech. It is written either in metrical pattern or in free verse.

This book is a recollection of life and family values. All occurrences took on special importance because they are true, even if everyone tells different versions of the same episode. As you begin reading, you will notice that I began with the history of an island. It is not only interesting but important to know the origin of any individual....
