I am a survivor of horrific child abuse, and veteran of the Falklands conflict of 1982 who served in the army for a period of twelve years from 1980-1992. three of which were with the Special Air Service (SAS) This book is about my personal battle with PTSD, depression and perfectionism (My Black Dog). It chronicles how my illness developed over number of years, my nightmares, my enlightening Stay in in mental institution and how PTSD and depression never really goes away. I liken my illness to a big Black dog which at times casts a dark shadow over my mental well-being. Goodreads Book Review By Betty Taylor: This is the very raw story of a man who served his country, fought in the Falklands, and then had extreme difficulty adjusting after the war. But it is actually much more than that. Yes, like many veterans of combat he fought - and continues to fight - with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. However, the factors leading to his PTSD began long before he ever put on his uniform and picked up a gun.Paul and his siblings suffered for 14 years at the hands of a violently abusive stepfather. This in itself, with no intervention of counselling, set Paul up for a life of explosive bouts of anger and violence. Then Paul went to war and witnessed horrific sights on the battlefield, sights that the human mind itself recognizes is not "normal". Come night-time Paul's sleep was disrupted as his brain tried to make sense of the visions, smells, and sounds. Unable to get the sleep he desperately needed, he was short-tempered and developed a very short fuse. Paul's writing is very raw and won't be for everyone. But his book is not intended to become a "best seller" but rather is an effort to heal by writing out his experiences. After failed suicide attempts and searching for help he finally found a facility that was able to start him on the path of healing.I think the main messages from this book are:1. You are not alone. Many more people in the world are suffering in the same manner.2. It is not a weakness to be experiencing PTSD. You have been exposed to something that is totally ABNORMAL and the human brain is hard-wired to try to make sense of it.3. Keep searching until you find someone or some facility or organization that can help you. Not every medical facility or even mental health facility is adequately trained to deal with PTSD. Keep looking until you find one that works for you.
WARNING: CONTAINS DISTURBING ACCOUNTS OF CHILD ABUSE, NEGLECT AND MENTAL ABUSEUnder the cover of anonymity "Paul Saunders" Courageously tells his shockingly true story of how he and his step-siblings were repeatedly abused by their mother and step-father. It doesn't make "easy" reading, But living through it wasn't fun either. However, the events that took place during the years 1963 to 1980 need to be recorded, for the sake of future generations of children to come, and out of respect to all the children who have already suffered at the hands of demonic parents.I especially dedicate this book to one hell of a brave boy, my step brother Little Paul, who sadly died with a great deal of dignity at the young age of 19 from cancer.God bless Him!UK Customer reviews Tears, 10 July 2017 By DeniseVerified Purchse I have never cried so much. Just when you thought browsing the library's comedy section was safe, you came across yet another P T Saunders's outrageous comedies. Bad Review 2 Saunder's new cringe-worthy comedy. After Jeffers' near-death confession, about himself being Penelope's real Father, things are about to change for all of the characters. For some, the changes in their circumstances will be positive, and other individual changes devastating.Once again, Saunders has created a book you will hate being addicted to. Enjoy.

Bad Review. (A laugh-out-loud Tom Sharpe style comedy). When a failing author Harry Sumpter receives several scathing reviews of his latest book "From Fighter to Writer", Harry's week goes from bad to worse. He tries and fails spectacularly to avenge his most critical book reviewer Cuthbert William Smythe. A man Harry hates with a vengeance and also the man who is now bonking Harry's ex, Belinda. To add salt to his wounds, His estranged Wife Penelope blackmails him into attending a weekend party. Where most of her guests have their own very unique sexual preferences. or just darn right perverts. The weekend starts with a masked ball. Where Harry is forced to parade around in, let's say, not the most flattering of costumes. Chosen by his vindictive wife. Followed, by an embarrassing clay-pigeon shoot. And finally, dinner with lots of saucy after-dinner dessertAnd finally, add Pricilla/Bob a switch Transexual, who an individual that can seamlessly from Bob to Pricilla. And is someone who Harry just can't shake off. Ever since he failed to read the small print on A telephone box escort ad. And a couple of lesbian/bi=sexual detectives. You have a recipe for a cringingly funny tale.Warning this book is not for the faint-hearted. It's down-to-earth, and at times sexually explicit. But if you can get past that you'll love Harry's story.

I am an army veteran. During my 12 years of service, I served with the Parachute Regiment and the Special Air service. I saw active service in the Falklands war of 1982 and the first Gulf War of 1990/91. I also completed several tours of Northern Ireland during the 1980s. During my service, I witnessed sights and events that no human should ever have to endure. I have opened fire on the enemy and been shot at by them too. I have also been involved in several proxy bomb attacks. I have also seen human devastation as a result of war and the impact it can have on soldiers both physically and mentally. As a result, I too have been scared for life. The images of dead people both friend and foe are never far away and often come crashing back into my conscious with a huge flashbang. Although I only admitted to myself that I was suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder a few years ago, I realise that I have really been suffering from it virtually all my life. Even as a child I witnessed horrific child abuse at the hands of my Stepfather. When I tell people that I suffer from PTSD, they often reply I know someone else who has that too. And quickly change the subject, almost embarrassed for me having the condition. I have written a few books about my traumatic childhood, my military career, and the way that I behave due to PTSD. And although I may have mentioned the odd nightmare in those books I haven't talked about them all. This short book is my attempt to enlighten anyone interested, about the way PTSD affects sufferer's sleep and as a result, their everyday lives and mental wellbeing. People only tend to notice our outbursts and strange behaviours, and they write us off as a bit dodgy. They hardly ever wonder or ask what has caused us to be having a bad day today? All of the dreams mentioned in this book are real dreams that I have had and remember very vividly.
An erotic psychological thriller fiction debut in the tradition of Andy Mc nab. Bravo two zero and Chris Rayan, Head Hunters. If you are looking for a gripping psychological thriller that has it all, this is the book for you. Left Behind, seeking revenge has plenty of twists and turns, and offers a glimpse into the darker side of the armed forces and policing out of the public gaze, by someone who knows. Written cleverly and in short chapters, you'll struggle to put the book down until you finish it. When a bi-lateral government-ordered assassination, of a couple of prominent Afghan Elders, goes spectacularly tits-up, three of the six-man mercenary team are killed. Two escape, and one, ex SAS trooper Alex Langdon is captured and held hostage by the Taliban, Now three years on, Alex has finally gained his freedom along with a new identity. He is hell-bent on seeking revenge on those that broke the unwritten rule "Never leave a man behind".
