Modern moms are constantly bouncing from place to place. After school activities, work, doctor's appointments, even daily errands get in the way of the ability to cook a nutritious and tasty meal for the family. The ability to cook just about anything in a slow cooker can alter that imbalance. Slow cookers are the most overlooked and valuable kitchen appliance in the modern home. Almost everyone has one, but most people don't realize the versatility of slow cookers. This recipe collection provides just a brief introduction to what these appliances can do. The recipes contain ingredients found in most kitchens, and produce delicious and healthy results. The goal of feeding a family is providing healthy food that you can feel good about preparing and serving. Processed foods are an easy answer, but their nutrient value is lower, and their sodium content is generally higher than home-cooked meals. This collection strives to provide a wide variety of options using very few processed items. That said, there are some items such as soup stocks and tomato sauce that are used. As a result, I've included a brief prologue with some basic recipes for kitchen staples that you can make ahead. Each recipe was prepared in our test kitchen. Each recipe includes an original picture of the actual recipe that was prepared. The recipes in this report call for 'large' eggs by default, and unless a cooked ingredient is specified, all items are to be incorporated in the raw state. Since this is a family and diet friendly cookbook, none of the recipes use lard, pork, or alcohol. Major allergens such as peanuts and berries are also largely avoided. Each recipe includes the following sections: Title Brief description Photograph Number of Servings Prep Time Cooking Time Ingredients Instructions Nutritional Information Cooking tips [where appropriate] Relax for a while. Read a book, watch a TV show, go for a walk; good food doesn't have to make you a slave to your kitchen!
Psalms 1-24 holds many jewels to be unearthed. In Secret Treasures from Psalms, author Rachel Ryan offers an all-inclusive study and daily devotional that travels through joy and heartache, and distress and victory with David. She shares that what David learns through his experience is what Christians are supposed to learn as well. He teaches us who God really is and how we're supposed to respond to him. He shows us how to live and how not to live and the consequences of our choices. He teaches us how to have a closer, more genuine relationship with God and how to rely on God as our source.Secret Treasures from Psalms can be used as a personal Bible study or daily devotion, as a foundation for Sunday school lessons and discussion, or as a weekly or monthly small group Bible study. The full text of scriptures discussed is displayed on the page to make referencing and rereading faster and easier. With reflection included, this guide uses Psalms 1-24 as a treasure map to God's heart toward you and as a key to unlock insight and daily application of concepts that affect your life and community.
“Expect a few chills to run down your spine as you work your way through this sharp debut” (CrimeReads) about a young mother who can’t shake the feeling that her son’s imaginary friend is putting him in very real danger—perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell and Mary Kubica. All children have imaginary friends, Georgina tells herself. It’s perfectly normal, and they all grow out of it in the end. But when her seven-year-old son, Cody, tells her about New Granny, the friend he’s met in the park, Georgina is instantly suspicious. Something—call it maternal instinct—tells her he isn’t making it up. Still, maybe Georgina is losing her mind. It wouldn’t be the first time, after all. And with her own mother’s recent death leaving her feeling bereft and overwhelmed as a busy working mom, it’s no wonder she’s feeling paranoid that Cody has invented a “New Granny” to replace his beloved grandmother. Her husband assures Georgina that it’s just a game, the product of their son’s overactive imagination. But what if Cody’s imaginary friend isn’t so imaginary after all? “Packed with jaw-dropping moments, The Woman Outside My Door is a twisty thriller with hidden depths” (Robyn Harding, internationally bestselling author of The Party) that will keep you guessing until the shocking last page.
In every family, there's a secret that can shatter everything . . . A page-turning and emotional thriller from a stunning debut talent in suspense, perfect for fans of Liz Nugent, Jane Shemilt and Jane Corry.
