A MANET is a collection of wireless nodes that can dynamically form a network to exchange information without using any pre-existing fixed network infrastructure. This work describes the fundamental problems of adhoc networking by giving its related research background including the concept, features, status and applications of MANET. Based on challenges which the book points out, some key research issues for adhoc networking are expected to promote the development and accelerate the commercial applications of the MANET technology. The focus is on the standardized IEEE 802.11 distributed coordination function contention-based protocol, which is the dominant MAC protocol for MANETs, and add new features that can improve its performance. In order to improve its utility by inculcating various useful features. This book presents a power control MAC protocol that allows nodes to vary transmit power level on a per-packet basis. The analysis should help shed some light on this new and power conservation mechanism, and should be especially useful to professionals in Communications and Networking fields, or anyone else who may be considering utilizing online communities for efforts.
Rahul Mukherjee explores how the media coverage of and debates about nuclear power plants and cellular phone antennas in India frames and sustains environmental activism.
