This fantastic collection of sketches by Robert A. Powell represent scenes that are Distinctly Kentucky. The symbols and subjects cover the diverse natural and man-made landmarks as well as activities that depict the colorful heritage of Kentucky. To fully represent our great state, subjects were selected from each of the geographic regions of Kentucky as well as a balance of landmarks, activities, symbols, and natural wonders from every designated region of the commonwealth. Many of the subjects may be similar to ones found in other parts of the country, but every unique picture in this book is distinctly Kentucky. It is commonly known as the Bluegrass State, a nickname based on the bluegrass found in many of its pastures due to the fertile soil and limestone water. Kentucky is best known around the world for horse racing, bourbon distilleries, moonshine, coal, bluegrass music, college basketball, and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
