This volume presents the complete score for Robert Schumann's 1851 violin sonata, "Violin Sonata No. 1". Robert Schumann (1810 - 1856) was a seminal German composer and esteemed music critic. When his piano teacher assured him that he could be the most accomplished piano virtuoso in Europe, he dedicated his energies to this end. However, a severe injury to his hand meant that his dream could never be realised. Instead, Schumann focused on composing. He chiefly wrote compositions for the piano until 1840, at which time he began branching out, composing for orchestra and writing symphonies, operas, and other choral and chamber pieces. Some of his most famous compositions include: "Kinderszenen", "Album für die Jugend", "Blumenstück", and the "Sonatas" and "Albumblätter". Today, Schumann is generally considered to be one of the most important composers during the Romantic era. Schumann expressed dissatisfaction with his first violin and piano sonata, which is the reason he gave for writing a second. This volume features large, clear note heads and wide margins, making this edition perfect for studying and following the music. Classic Music Collection constitutes an extensive library of the most well-known and universally-enjoyed works of classical music ever composed, reproduced from authoritative editions for the enjoyment of musicians and music students the world over.

Robert Schumann's Leben (1887) is a book written by the famous German composer Robert Schumann himself. The book is an autobiographical account of Schumann's life, detailing his childhood, his musical education and career, his marriage to fellow musician Clara Wieck, and his struggles with mental illness. Schumann's writing style is introspective and personal, offering insights into his creative process and the emotional experiences that inspired his music. The book also includes excerpts from Schumann's diaries and letters, providing further context and depth to his life story. Overall, Robert Schumann's Leben is a fascinating and insightful read for anyone interested in the life and work of one of the greatest composers of the Romantic era. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
"The charm of Schumann's symphonies lies in their never long repressed lyricism." -- Grove's Dictionary. Although Schumann composed only four complete symphonies, the originality and lyrical qualities of his symphonic works have made them staples of the orchestral repertoire. This volume contains the complete, authoritative Breitkopf & Härtel editions -- edited by Clara Schumann -- of all of Schumann's symphonies in full score: Symphony No. 1 in B-flat Major, Op. 38 ("Spring"); Symphony No. 2 in C Major, Op. 61; Symphony No. 3 in E-flat Major, Op. 97 ("Rhenish"); and Symphony No. 4 in D Minor, Op. 120. The music has been reproduced in a size large enough to be read easily, with large noteheads, wide margins for notes, on an opaque paper with sturdy, sewn bindings. Pages lie flat and will not fall out. This edition also includes a glossary of German musical terms in Symphonies No. 3 and No. 4, as well as a new table of contents. As a study guide or reference, Schumann's Complete Symphonies in Full Score is an invaluable companion for full enjoyment of these romantic masterpieces.
