This book is about the author's early experience learning Mandarin Chinese. She explores the meaning of Master and how the Lunar Year of the Dragon influenced her interest in Chinese Culture. The story is dedicated to Professor Teng Shou-Hsin, who is a renowned Chinese Teacher, who specializes in Linguistics and Syntax. Professor Teng was her first and only Mandarin Language instructor at UMass Amherst East Asian Studies, where she studied Chinese Language and Literature from 1980 to 1984. He even encouraged her to attend studies abroad at Taiwan Normal University and Tung Hai University. The author received a minor from the University of Massachusetts In 2002, she traveled to Hei Long Jiang, Shuang Ya Shan City to teach English with her late husband Richard Thorpe, also a UMass Graduate class of 1984.
