DRYING OUT picks up where WET PAY left off. It takes us through the second half of Sam's career in the dive industry. Sam does less diving as he works his way into more supervising and also becomes an IMCA certified Life Support Technician (LST). It chronicles his time spent on SAT systems in the Gulf of Mexico following the damage done by Hurricane Ivan and the total destruction wreaked upon the Gulf states by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. When that work was slowing down, Sam found work in other parts of the world including Saudi Arabia, Italy, and Egypt. Sam's career path introduces him to hyperbaric tunneling where he thinks he might spend the final years of his career. However, his career is brought full circle as his last job is supervising on a large dam project on the Ohio River; his first real commercial dive job taking place on a dam in Wyoming on the Shoshone River (as described in WET PAY).

The final chapter of the book describes what a woman is to the author.
Wet Pay is my story of my career in Commercial Diving. It starts from when I entered a Commercial Dive School in 1983 and follows the first half of my career into 2001. These are funny, exciting, sometimes horrifying tales of incidents that took place while I was working as a commercial diver around the Pacific Northwest and the Western United States. The stories are ALL true as to the best of my recollection.
