Long, unfurling tracks; huge stacks of gear; music like that of no other group; trailblazing live gigs based on improvisation. This is the legacy of Tangerine Dream, the legendary German group piloted by Edgar Froese, whose impact on music, and electronic music in particular, has been profound.

In Stephen Palmer's debut novel, The Unlikely Candidate, Jeff Ackerman won the political upset of the century, coming out of nowhere to win the presidency. Now that it's time to implement his conservative agenda, The Unlikely President learns that winning the election was the easy part. Ackerman must overcome a struggling economy, angry Democrats, a hostile media, aggressive foreign enemies, and a handful of Republican senators who are more interested in praise from the liberal media than supporting their party's policies. Ackerman's Christian faith is as controversial in the Oval Office as it was on the campaign trail. The Unlikely President is a fast-paced, enlightening, and sometimes humorous look inside Washington politics.

What is love? One evening at the Suicide Club three gentlemen discuss this age-old problem, and thus a wager is made. Dissolute fop Sheremy Pantomile, veteran philosopher Kornukope Wetherbee and down-on-his-luck Velvene Orchardtide all bet their fortunes on finding the answer amidst the dark alleys of a phantasmagorical Edwardian London. But then, overnight, London Town is covered in hair. How the trio of adventurers cope with this unusual plague, and what conclusions they come to regarding love is the subject of this surreal and fast-paced novel. And always the East End threatens revolution... "Stephen Palmer is a find." Time Out "Science fiction has gained a distinctive new voice." Ottakar's "Stephen Palmer's imagination is fecund..." Interzone "... (a) supremely odd yet deeply rewarding experience." CCLaP Fine blonde hair growing on Waterloo Bridge makes it impassable. The young man, trapped by a rampant beard on the southern banks of the river, looks to the stanchions on the northern side that once were grey stone, but which now are hirsute. He cannot see how he will cross, but he must, because the hair beneath his feet is so luxuriant he is in danger of sinking into it, drowning, smothering in that yellow tide. In his pocket he finds a rope with a grapnel on the end, and this he uses to haul himself up to the thinly haired bridge parapet. Like a monkey on a branch he moves along the parapet, slipping on clumps of hair, ducking when the wind gusts, almost losing his balance - but not quite. In ten minutes he is on the northern side. He leaps down into the mass of blonde hair that waves in the breeze coming up Victoria Embankment. The locks cover him to waist level. With no other alternative he begins forging his way towards High Holborn, where he has an engagement...

In Beautiful Intelligence Stephen Palmer told a global story of artificial intelligence in a fractured, dangerous future, overseen by the eyes of the nexus. Now in No Grave For A Fox he continues the tale, returning to Kid Indigo, the mysterious AI last seen isolated and disorientated in the ruins of Seattle. The year is 2110. In Africa, water and food shortages force many people to exist hand-to-mouth, including a couple of itinerant street musicians, Ibrahim and Elodie. When a Japanese dog appears one evening at a gig, Elodie befriends it, but soon the lives of the couple are entangled with both the dog and enigmatic nexus wizard Zouhair Fox. Soon the trio find themselves taking part in a nexus revolution that threatens to cover Africa, and perhaps the whole world. The short novel, No Grave For A Fox, is a second fast-paced, philosophical thriller that takes the reader across the globe through a post-oil world of danger, surprise and possibility.

The constellation we know as Taurus goes all the way back to cave paintings of aurochs at Lascaux. In I Am Taurus, author Stephen Palmer traces the story of the bull in the sky, starting from that point 19,000 years ago - a journey through the history of what has become known as the sacred bull. Each of the eleven sections is written from the perspective of the mythical Taurus, from the beginning at Lascaux to Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, Greece, Spain and elsewhere. This is not just a history of the bull but also an attempt to see ourselves through the eyes of the bull, illustrating our pre-literate use of myth, how the advent of writing and the urban revolution changed our view of ourselves, and how even the most modern of rituals - bullfighting in Spain - is a variation on the ancient sacrifice of the sacred bull.
