In this book, you will learnWhat belief causes sin to lose its power over us.How to step fully into our new identityHow to replace your old sinful desires with a hunger to please the Lord Jesus with every thought, word, and actionHow exactly the Holy Spirit works in us, producing a grace-empowered holiness. To be effective in ministry our life must display both the character and power of God. This means that growing both the fruit of the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the Holy Spirit are crucial to fulfilling our calling. This booklet focuses on the process and context for developing the fruit of the Spirit so that the character of Jesus can be fully formed in us. From that position we move away from a style or sound of ministry in which our gift attracts attention to ourselves and into a place where ministry is motivated purely by compassion. When Christ is formed in us in this way the world around us will catch a glimpse of the true nature of our wonderful Jesus.
It was baseball great, Satchel Paige, who said, "Don't look back. Something might be gaining on you." That is good advice if the something is not to your liking. But good things may gain on you too, one of them being faith. In "Backward Glances," Steve and Anne Weihsmann share how faith gained on them and made sense of their Christian walk. The co-authors have observed life and faith from both sides of the church doors. WHEN HEALING BECOMES A CRIME.My brother walked into that hospital and he never walked out..... My brother was never an organ donor, yet the death documentation form stated "donation received - NO CONSENT". Just like the king of pop, my brother was given a propofol infusion without knowledge or consent to stop him from breathing on his own and to keep him a prisoner on the respirator. The doctors made my brother a "case study" and experimented on him to see how much he could stand and to test the limits of human endurance. My brother was a victim of a HMO hospital which has little or no regard for human life and I was a victim of circumstances beyond my control. An attorney told me "It must be terrible knowledge you have to live with for the rest of your life knowing that you could not stop the hospital from killing your brother."Sometimes when I hear the sound from the refrigeration it reminds me of the same sound of my brother's respirator and I feel like I am standing next to him again.
