Narendra Modi is the prime minister of India. He is extremely popular with the country's 1 billion Hindu majority, but not so with the 200 million strong Muslim minority. How has this happenstance occurred? MODI: AN EXPOSE explains in detail. We must thank the author for chronicling what is to my mind the most critical decade of Indian history -- AAKAR PATEL, Chair, Amnesty International India. A fascinating book that has ably compressed many eras of Indian political scene around Modi. In a simple and well reasoned flow of events brightened by use of inventive vocabulary ( such as miscegenation & a few more ) and cogent expressions of detachment in analysis ( such as 'But India's opposition must study Modi's behavior to see if they can glean anything from it in order to help them') are going to keep the spirit of readers high on both sides of a divided spectrum. The book has almost everything that a fast track professional needs on his fingertips to be well meaning in academic and social cliques. This is the book which is needed right now by every non-resident Indian, foreigners as well as resident-Indians since curiosity and tempers are running high to get to the right pic of an intriguing personality who camouflages hermit and the heist with apt dramatics. The book is a concise thesis of research starting with the basic tools of history necessary to dissect embedded crevices of ethnic divides which Indian social life has carried forward in its own casual and loving way of life but which was turned into a fodder for power by the RSS-BJP. The book has also not left out the gulf of trust between the RSS and BJP and this has been said with evidence and much authentic findings which match the Navjeevan Press Ahmedabad archives of letters exchanged by Sardar Patel, Nehru and Golwalkar. I felt that before the current political power holders lay their hands over that archival wealth, these basic facts need to surface in as many writings. Much of Modi understanding comes from fearlessly and impartially brought out archival communication between Nehru- Patel government and the emerging RSS tentacles in independent India. The author has bridged the past with current performance of Modi regime. Not a soul that touched Modi is missing from Amit Shah to Jaitley or even organizations and groups that impacted on decisions which were taken from time to time be it Adani or Ambani. However, readers may be provoked to know why Jashodaben has gone missing in the book since the author provides a cover of some higher ideals on Modi's act of irresponsibility towards a woman he married at an adult age of 18. His blatant casualness towards gender discrimination and sexual harassment in higher offices such as the Judges's chamber ie Gogoi case and many cases against men who turned saffron to escape legal action in universities and state governments (UP, MP cases of women home administrators) coupled with Gau-Shala led land grabbing while live cow export goes sky rocketing... are enigmas to his personality which is attempting to compete Nehru on a global scene! His cautious and calculated respect towards women's empowerment while surrounded by canon mouthing Smriti Irani and Nirmala Sitharaman after clouds over Pragya and Uma Bharti. He oversteps the boundaries constructed by RSS and turns increasingly mocking against bolder versions such as the Bengal's Mamata Banerjee and Mahua Moitra. I have enjoyed the book thoroughly for its readability and immensely connected and well researched information put together in a simple yet intellectually high breed expressions to serve a modern reader. Will provoke and attract everyone to read it across the world. Maybe, to reach more hands some titles can be slightly amended to not be so direct. Amita Singh(Professor rtd.
