The Emerald Tablet of Hermes first appeared in the Alchemical Libraries of Europe during the 12th Century. Traveling home with the Crusaders, this seminal work is alleged to be written by Hermes Trismegistus-Thoth. The work deeply influenced Western Magick, and the tenets presented influence modern magick to this day. The Kybalion was first published by The Yogi Publication Society of the Masonic Temple in Chicago in 1912. The authors of The Kybalion chose to remain anonymous, because the principles and philosophy are a summation of theTimeless Wisdom and Truth of the Hemetic Philosophy.
We take great pleasure in presenting to the attention of students and investigators of the Secret Doctrines this little work based upon the world-old Hermetic Teachings. There has been so little written upon this subject, not withstanding the countless references to the Teachings in the many works upon occultism, that the many earnest searchers after the Arcane Truths will doubtless welcome the appearance of this present volume. The purpose of this work is not the enunciation of any special philosophy or doctrine, but rather is to give to the students a statement of the Truth that will serve to reconcile the many bits of occult knowledge that they may have acquired, but which are apparently opposed to each other and which often serve to discourage and disgust the beginner in the study.
Seven Fundamental Principles That Could Change Your LifeAccording to ancient Greek and Egyptian literature, Hermes Trismegistus, legendary father of the occult and ascribed founder of astrology, practiced a divinely inspired form of mental alchemy focused on transforming the mind rather than physical materials. In essence, he pursued a sort of spiritual ascension, a transmutation of the soul leading to a freeing of one's true self. For millennia, though, the foundational precepts of early Hermetic mysticism remained shrouded in secrecy, known only to a select few. The Kybalion, purportedly written by three anonymous initiates of Hermes' teaching, finally parts the obscuring fog and reveals clear and simple pathways to understanding and applying the transformative spiritual knowledge, regardless of one's religious tradition or belief system. This life-changing treatise outlines seven universal laws upon which the entire Hermetic Philosophy, and possibly even the nature of existence itself, are based. These seven key principles are: mentalism, correspondence, vibration, polarity, rhythm, cause and effect, and gender. With its lucid commentary on aphorisms from original source material, The Kybalion provides modern readers with invaluable insights for achieving personal self-development and living the best life possible. It is also a vital resource for anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of paranormal philosophies, arcane truths, esoteric studies, magic, mysticism, the occult, the supernatural, or the wonders of the universe, or those simply seeking a deeper appreciation for the secret doctrines and powerful wisdom of the ancients. This Echo Point Books edition is complete with index. This book is also available from Echo Point Books in hardcover (ISBN 1635617561).
