Born and raised in suburban Massachusetts, his early years were shaped by a turbulent family environment, having an alcoholic father and parents who were at odds with each other most often times. Raised in a Catholic household and attending a private Catholic school, Thomas' life took a drastic turn at the age of 11 when his parents divorced after a tumultuous marriage. Moving with his mother and sisters to a new town, he transitioned from the familiar private Catholic school to a local public school, experiencing profound loneliness. Tragedy struck at 13 when his mother died in a car crash, leaving his estranged father as the sole caretaker. Coping with pain and confusion, Thomas turned to drugs and alcohol at 14, leading to a life-threatening overdose at the age of 15. Mandated to attend rehabilitation, he faced numerous challenges, including legal troubles and homelessness. Through a troubled adolescence, he discovered poetry and writing as an outlet, finding solace in a program for troubled teens in Lawrence, MA. In and out of treatment facilities and halfway houses, Thomas' struggles continued into his early adulthood, culminating in an arrest that became an opportunity for growth through counseling while incarcerated. Despite the darkness he faced, Thomas eventually found stability and redemption, now residing in Oregon with his wife and four children after more than two decades of marriage.
