This volume contains the full text of a previously unpublished minute book of the Dorset Standing Committee from early 1646. The entries illustrate the various duties of the Parliamentary authorities charged with managing the county as the civil war progressed. Selected letters and papers from the Strangways family archive demonstrate the difficulties faced by families who had found themselves on the 'wrong' side. Particularly they highlight the role that Royalist women played in maintaining the family estates and households while their husbands and sons were imprisoned or living in exile. The editor, Tim Goodwin, author of Dorset in the Civil War, has provided a full introduction and the volume is comprehensively indexed.

It can be a complicated world. But this book is simple. Only you can decide how to live. That includes the friends you make. The jobs you take. The foods you eat. And the way you think.Tim Goodwin is a writer and philosopher with a longstanding interest in living life well. When asked how he ended up this way, Goodwin says he's forgotten most of what he learned in school but has thoroughly noted the best of what life has to offer. Known to his family and friends as a man who's always ready to relax and have fun, Goodwin's new book takes a fresh look at the simple things everyone can do to live life well. Years before writing Notes On Living Life Well, Tim Goodwin became an avid student of real life. He's been a construction worker, furniture mover, men's clothing salesman, manager of a non-profit organization, copywriter and graphic designer. He currently lives with his wife in a small seacoast town near Boston.
