As you begin to get to know her, you will learn to appreciate her even more. Appreciating the beauty of a woman, means peeling back her external layers to examine who she is at her core. Seeing her uncloaked, with her essence on reveal. Where she is no longer obscured beneath the day to day coverings of style, high-fashion and contentment. In this state, she is most vulnerable. Nonetheless, it is her vulnerability that makes her beautiful. The Gift of H.E.R. represents a poetic expression of the beauty all women hold within. It attempts seeing through a woman's eyes, the thoughts, feelings and struggles that cause her pause, and brings her joy, happiness and heartbreak. It is a poetic commentary exploring the challenges and triumphs of women in their struggle against the traditional stereotypes of beauty. Each poem dives into the conscious soul where we form, shape and refine the multiple facets of our personal definitions of what makes a woman beautiful.
Every relationship is a story in the making. As each moment unfolds a new page is written into the novel. These pages are what compose the chapters that chronicle our shared lives and our aspirations to love and be loved. In the wake of passion's journey, along the banks of our emotional rivers, lie the residual thoughts and feelings left behind from the tide of love. These residual thoughts often go unnoticed, but touch and impact everything that navigates the space through which our emotions flow. The Residual Thoughts Love Left Behind explores through poetic verse the highs and lows of relationships, and the emotional scarring that can sometimes be a consequence of fierce passion. It acknowledges that love is neither good nor bad, but rather a mixed bag of emotions we carry with us throughout our lives.
When God decided to carve perfection from the essential elements of the universe and meld them into one perfectly formed entity, symbolizing indelible love, he created the "Blacker berry." On the vine of life, the "Blacker Berry" is the one ripened to perfection. It is distinguished by its deep passionate colors and exquisite taste. Features that do not occur by happenstance, but rather are products of strength, commitment and endurance. It represents the status that all aspire to but few achieve in their quests for love and intimacy. The following collection of poems describes the beauty of sensual love, specifically highlighting and honoring the legacy of "Black" love and intimacy. Each poem represents an earnest assessment of the magic that occurs when one is bestowed the rare privilege of experiencing "The Sweet Juice of the Blacker Berry."
We are all called by God for a higher purpose. A selfless sacrifice of time and effort in service to others, for the purpose of enlightening and educating all who have been touched by the grace and glory of a benevolent Creator. But too often, doubt disrupts our thoughts and invades our hearts, causing us to question the presence of God in our lives. We challenge years of embedded wisdom and debate argumentatively with the voice of reason that directs us to the best path. Could it be God's voice we are hearing? God Speaks to the Drumbeats of My Soul represents my spiritual journey and chronicles my personal conversations with God. What a wonderful feeling to know I am never alone. Even when the clouds of doubt hover above obscuring my vision of the present and obstructing my view of the future, I still hear God's voice. Guiding me and helping me find my way through the darkest of moments. It is the consistency of God's love that emboldens my faith and serves as a compass to help navigate life's most troublesome times. It is equally during these times that I seek the inner strength to overcome the chaos of uncertainty and dismiss the distractions of deceit. So that I can attentively listen for the affirming words and subtle whispers that God speaks directly into my soul.
The first pew in the front of the church, historically called the Moaning Bench, has served as a place of comfort for those in mourning; and a place of refuge for those seeking forgiveness and redemption. During these critical times it has been a sacred place where troubled souls can whisper their confessions and beseech repentance through their heartfelt cries. It is in this space that lost souls mourn, cry for repentance, and plea for salvation. "Meet Me at the Moaning Bench," transports the reader directly to the front of the church and most importantly, before God. At a time when there is heightened attention on the relevance of spiritualism and divinity, Timid Masses through his poetry, crafts a masterful argument for the necessity of both. Each poem represents the timeless testimony of a personal journey in search of redemption and salvation. A must read for anyone struggling with the complex triad of hope, faith and love.
