Higher education in Britain changed direction in the 1960s and much of the innovation took place not in the established universities but in colleges of further education. Enfield College of Technology in North London was a leading example of how this educational revolution took place outside of the control of the universities. It was the site of an experiment in higher education. Ideas were developed there that found expression in Britain's polytechnics - sometimes described as the People's Universities. This book explores what it was like to be part of that experience through first-hand accounts of those who worked and studied at the college at that time.
