The fourth and last part of the book consists in an application of the general methods, as outlined in part 3, to special structures like plates and shells, thus giving hopefully something of interest to the practising engineer.

This book is an outgrowth of several years of teaching and research of the two authors in the field of structural dynamics and control. There is no question that the book can be used as a reference book for advanced courses in the above mentioned areas.
