This is a double (2-books-in-one) 29 page copy of the first Seabee Recruiting Book. This format, of 2 books in one, was designed as a value-added product for book retailers. They get two books for the price of one. However, cutting the book by the customer horizontally is required to render the two books. During World War Two, the Seabees were established as the newest part of the Navy. To get skilled tradesmen, they went to construction sites and factories handing out these booklets. They offered advance rates commensurate with the tradesman's experience. A recruiting truck led the way. This truck contained a diorama showing a typical Seabee beach head in the Pacific.

This publication serves as a guide and a reference for trained members of the Armed Forces Medical Services and other medically qualified personnel on the recognition and treatment of biological warfare (BW) agent casualties. Information contained in this publication may also be relevant for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with naturally acquired diseases or illnesses due to pathogens with BW potential. This publication 1) classifies and describes potential BW agents, 2) provides procedures for collecting, handling and labeling, shipping, and identifying potential BW agents, 3) describes procedures for medial diagnosing, treating, and management of BW casualties, and 4) describes medical management and treatment in BW operations. The material in this publication is applicable to both the conventional battlefield and the integrated environment of the battlefield. Treatment modalities contained in this manual differ from standard textbooks in that they apply to BW agent exposures. The method of exposure for most BW agents is by inhalation; whereas, the endemic disease exposure (if applicable) is by other means. Some are by ingestion, some by arthropod bites, and other by dermal contact with the agent. This does not preclude service members becoming BW casualties by these means. The use of the term "level of care" in this publication is synonymous with "echelon of care" and "role or care." The term "echelon of care" is the old North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) term. The term "role of care" is the new NATO and American, British, Canadian, and Australian (ABCA) term.

PREFACE This book is written for the enlisted men of Naval aviation. It is one of a series of books designed to give them the background information necessary to perform their aviation duties. A knowledge of aircraft fire control is of primary importance to Aviation Ordnancemen responsible for general maintenance work. But the subdivisions of Aviation Ordnancemen - that is, Aviation Bombsight Mechanics and Aviation Turret Mechanics - also need an understanding of aircraft fire control. They need to know the relationship of their specialties to the broad subject of ordnance. Starting with basic information on the science of ballistics, this book follows with a discussion of gunsights, boresighting and synchronizing. Then come torpedo directors, bombing and bombsights. In conclusion, there is a section on aerial gun cameras, aerial t^trgets and towing equipment. The Submarine School, Submarine Base, New London, Connecticut, and other activities of Submarines Atlantic Fleet, have collaborated in the preparation of this manual. It is designed to serve as both an instruction and an operation manual. Since, in wartime, changes in design and construction developed rapidly as a result of battle experience, it became increasingly difficult to incorporate into this text all classes of submarines. Therefore, the USS Perch, or SS313, was selected as representative of the class discussed and described in the text. In some instances, however, it was found desirable to make reference to later units and to describe and illustrate these newer installations so that a more complete text would result. This book does not have all of the line drawings included and is printed in black and white.

Increasingly, so called weak actors employ irregular warfare to successfully challenge the strong. The British, French, and Americans are recognized for their irregular warfare experience, but the comparatively rich German tradition remains overlooked. German contributions to irregular warfare, in fact, rival their reputed expertise in modern maneuver warfare. Beginning in the American Revolution, Hessian officer Johann Ewald revealed important counterinsurgency principles and was followed by a succession of German soldiers in the many wars that followed. German irregular warfare can offer strategic answers to contemporary security challenges.

Naval Operations Concept 2010 (NOC 10) describes when, where and how U.S. naval forces will contribute to enhancing security, preventing conflict and prevailing in war in order to guide Maritime Strategy implementation in a manner consistent with national strategy. NOC 10 describes the ways with which the sea services will achieve the ends articulated in A Cooperative Strategy for 21st Century Seapower (CS-21).

This handbook provides information and procedures to assist personnel assigned as Enlisted Aides. Enlisted Aides (EA) receive extensive training in cooking, baking, bartending, uniform management, entertaining, dining, and living area management. Navy Enlisted Aides provide service for admirals and senior government executives, also run the White House Mess for the President of the United States. They are responsible for assisting the officer in the performance of his military and official responsibilities. Enlisted Aides are a selected group of Culinary Specialists that perform some of the most demanding job assignments. This publication has no associated assignments or test. As public affairs and visual information experts, MCs present the story of America's Navy to audiences in the Navy and to the rest of the world through a variety of mediums. MCs write and produce print and broadcast journalism news and feature stories for military and civilian newspapers, magazines, television and radio broadcast stations. They capture video and still imagery of military operations, exercises and other Navy events. They serve overseas, on ships, and at stateside commands as photographers, videographers, public affairs specialists, newspaper and magazine staff members, and TV and radio station staff and talent. MCs also create graphic designs in support of the public affairs mission, create and manage official websites, and perform high-speed, high-volume graphic reproduction. Culinary Specialists (CS) receive extensive training in cooking, baking, dining and living area management. Navy Culinary Specialists provide food service for admirals and senior government executives and run the White House Mess for the President of the United States. They are responsible for all aspects of the dining (mess decks) and living areas, Culinary Specialists work in the 'heart of the ship,' and are vital in maintaining high crew morale on the ship and every shore base.

Familiarizes the trainee with the various aspects of the Personnel Specialist rating, such as Office Occupations and Managements, Manpower Management, Personnel Casualty Report, Financial Accountability, Navy Cash, Separations, Discharges and Retirements, Tuition Assistance and Enlisted Advancement System, Pay and Personnel Entitlements.

The primary purpose of the United States Navy's training establishment is to provide operational forces with trained personnel who can maintain a high degree of Fleet readiness. Several offices coordinate with each other to plan for training and to determine the purposes of training within various commands.
