This book offers careful glimpse from the lenses of selected case studies of major counties in East Asia, namely China and Japan to obtain insights as well as lessons regarding their perspective sustainable cities development. Urban sustainability is the pillar domain for achieving overall sustainability. This book, based on extensive field work and research, examines the status quo of Chinäs biomass energy developments in the renewable energy sector by conducting three representative case studies of biogas projects in China with different feed-in stocks and scales. By integrating material flow management (MFM) concepts into the projects' development and implementation, the author has applied SWOT analysis to each of the enlisted case study, to determine what are the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats for the biogas project development and relevant policy in China.
