The length of the study is simplistic so a small group can gather on a weekend retreat or even an evening commute and a regular expression of time can be adhered to.

Toups of the Diocese of Beaumont have collaborated to offer simple, scriptural devotions to help you reflect on the spirit of Thanksgiving to prepare for this incredible national holiday.Jesus' most important meal was the Last Supper which is the beginning of the Eucharist. The very word itself means "thanksgiving." The Sunday following Thanksgiving this year is the Feast of Christ the King, a great time for us to return to the Table of the Lord and give thanks to our God for all the many blessings He has bestowed upon us, and to seek his assistance for the many needs of our homes and world. We live in a Genesis Three World.Even a quick look around reveals that things in this world are not as they should be. Violence, including war and mass shootings and self-inflicted harm such as suicide, occurs more than regularly. In the words of Paul, We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time (Rom. 8:22). That groaning began in the days of Genesis chapter three. Genesis chapter two assures the reader that all that God created "was very good". Due to the events recorded in Genesis chapter three, "was" is a key word. Yet not all hope is lost. In fact, another chapter three found in the Bible provides the answer to the problem of the brokenness of our world. The purpose of this book is to equip the reader with biblical and biblically-based tools for navigating through our Genesis Three World.

The Bible challenges us in Romans 12:2 to not be conformed to this world but to be transformed by renewing our minds. Our natural human tendencies are strongly bent toward selfishness. It permeates our being and aggressively reveals itself in our interactions. Our culture seems to be pushing further and further toward the trend of selfishness. In a world of societal pressure, constant competition, and drive for material possessions and pleasure, I challenge you to take a deeper look at your life and ways in which you can kill selfishness. I want to challenge our way of thinking. I want to challenge us to change. I want to challenge not only our relationships but how we view our relationships and those around us. This book will challenge you to take a closer look at your every action to eventually lead a life of selflessness, worthiness, humility, and self-control. If we want to change our world, we must first change ourselves. And in order to truly change ourselves, we must first take an honest, unhindered look inside ourselves to discover how we can kill selfishness to live out selflessness.

Dave Rager and his family arrive in Mattru Jong, Sierra Leone, to start their first term as missionaries. They get settled into their new home and Dave meets Jeff, another missionary kid. The two become fast friends and begin a 'Good News Club' to introduce Jesus to the local Mattru kids. But Tom Berkey, a bully at the MK School, teases them from the beginning of school. Dave has to learn how to deal with the bullying, and he hears about a terrible event in the past that made Tom turn mean.Tom dares them to swim in the Jong River, where he says crocodiles are. Dave and Jeff, disregarding Tom's attempt to scare them, proceed with their plan to float down the river. But, it is dangerous, and someone's life is at risk! Dave must have great courage and test skills he has never used. Crocodile in the River continues the saga of the Rager family as they make friends in their new African home.
