After facing a situation that opens Samantha up to teasing from her peers, she lears the meaning of empathy and how words have a power to hurt or to heal. While Sam and the Sunburn is a sweet story with a necessary lesson, it is also a teaching book for children who are bullied or who may, in fact, be the bully themselves. Easy to read, but layered with lessons for all. Author Sherry Olson is a therapist practicing in Saskatchewan, Canada. Upon obtaining her Social Work degree, and working within many aspects of the field, she turned her attention toward a master's degree in counseling and the area she most enjoys - clinical. A wife, mother, and grandmother, Sherry enjoys spending time with family and friends, her German Shepherd, and her "grand-dogs." She also considers working out, reading, and writing to be necessities that afford her to thrive!
God speaks in numerous ways to His people. In Psalm 29 David is describing a summer storm in the mountains of Lebanon; he mentions the voice of the Lord upon the waters - the voice of the Lord in the thunder and lightning - the voice that splits the cedars - the voice that quickens the birthing process - the voice that shakes the wilderness of Kadesh - the voice of the Lord that is full of power and majesty - the voice that divides the flames of fire - the voice that causes the calves to skip - the voice that flashes like lightning exposing the forest in the blackness of the night.Jesus taught using natural/physical things to teach spiritual/kingdom truths. In this book, you will learn how to do this by looking at Psalm 29 and discovering what God taught David. You'll also look at how God taught Jeremiah how to hear and interpret what he saw. You will look at the symbols of Holy Spirit to show what He does - not only who He is. Wind, water or fire might be seen physically and that should teach what Holy Spirit is doing. It's imperative to understand what God is saying and doing; the Bible is the trusted interpreter. The original meaning of words in the Hebrew and Greek language is also important.Dreams and visions are pictures of what God is saying. They are called the language of the Holy Spirit. The Book of Revelation is loaded with this language, sometimes in video form. John is in the Spirit, receiving these revelations from the position of the earth and other times from the vantage position of heaven.

There are so many voices vying for our attention. We are constantly bombarded by news alerts, posts on social media, and people sharing their opinions. In the midst of our 'noisy' world, it can be difficult to hear the voice of God. God is always speaking to us and longs for us to hear and receive all that He has to say. This devotional is a collection of words spoken to me from God over a number of years that have shaped and transformed my life. His words have brought healing to my soul, encouraged me in moments of despair, and challenged me to pursue His presence like never before. It is my prayer that God will speak to you through this devotional and encourage you to keep growing and trusting in Him. At the end of each devotional, you will find a few sentences for you to declare over your day. The bible says in Proverbs 18:21 that, "e;Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits."e; There is such power released when we speak out God's promises and truths over our lives. As we hear from God, read His word and declare His truths, may we be drawn closer into His presence and become more like our Creator. I pray that as you go through this devotional that you would come to intimately know the One who created you, formed you, calls you by name, and loves you with an everlasting love. Have your own Bible close at hand to further explore the scriptures and freely receive all that God has to share with you.
This children's story has a fairytale feel to it, as it uses older language. Practical story with beautiful flow. One little girl has everything; the other has nothing. Yet, it's the one without who is full of joy while the one without want for anything is miserable. Over a little girl tea party with the two new yet unlikely friends, a lesson on gratitude and optimism is learned. Living on the brighter side of life is possible, not because of what we own, but because of how we think.
Matt the Rat in a Dog Suit is a lively story with over 20 bright illustrations. Readers will learn the value of being comfortable in their own skin and how, unlike misconception goes, we are our best selves when we don't try to be like anyone else.
"It's the only way, my dear Tobias," King Jesiah reminded his one and only son. "Yes. Yes, you must leave straightaway." The kind did not want for his son to have to go and leave the kingdom, but he knew it was the only way to rescue the Deplorables. They were a wicked bunch, those ones who dwelt outside of the kingdom, but King Jesiah loved them more than he loved his own life. He needed them to be brought into the land he had built for them. Sending his own son to rescue them was the only way to bring those broken and wayward people into the kingdom and keep them safe from the trecherous storm-the storm they refused to acknowledge was coming even though they'd been made aware of it many times. Tobias would do his best, but in the young prince's mind, it was doubtful that he would return to the kingdom-or his father-again.
