This book includes a CD-ROM containing both Audio and General MIDI Files of the 500+ accompaniments included in the text, each with an interesting and engaging arrangement coupled with the piano part. Theory, technique, sight-reading, repertoire, harmonization, improvisation and ensemble activities are taught thoroughly and consistently throughout the text. Book 2 is 408 pages.
Just a short introduction and the gorgeous natural flow begins, unfolding the familiar carol of O Come, All Ye Faithful." Twice more it is repeated in chorale form, ending with a majesty of style which this melody deserves. Percussion parts add a lot to the ensemble sound but are optional."
This is a fun traditional Welsh carol that lends itself well to a six-part clarinet ensemble. Melody is passed throughout the group as they wander through several variations of the melody. Fa-la-la-la-la-la!"
For many reasons, Christmas means joy. This tune, Ding Dong Merrily on High," is a wonderful musical snapshot of the whole season. In this arrangement, we hear church bells chiming, voices uniting and see people smiling."
This peaceful Austrian carol is beautiful in its simplicity and elegance. Melody is found in all voices. Often performed by choirs, this is a favorite with audiences all over the world. This arrangement was conceived of as a concert opener for a quintet concert. It begins in a celebratory manner and, after two statements of the melody, the tune is stated in augmented fragments in the low brass. This clever collection of tropical delights" will add something different to a brass quintet Christmas concert. Optional percussion parts have also been included to add to the island feel. The Notespeller & Sight-Play Book 1 reinforces note-reading skills based on the concepts introduced in the Music Lesson Book 1. Each page of the Notespeller & Sight-Play Book has two activities---a written activity and a playing example. The written activity reinforces notes on the keyboard and staff through coloring, circling, drawing, or matching. The sight-play examples help students relate notes and musical concepts to performance on the keyboard, move out of fixed hand positions, and identify melodic and rhythm patterns.
This piece was written in the thirteenth Century by an unknown composer. It was set as a single melodic line as many Gregorian chants were constructed. Lush, modern harmonies have been added to make it the popular Christmas piece it is today. The flute is the featured player in this arrangement and first states the melody alone. This is to emulate the call and response between a soloist and congregation at a church service. (3:30)
