Set in the little-known backdrop of Serbia in the year 2000, Petar's Rose unfolds in a world seemingly insulated from external influences, offering a glimpse into a setting exotic to Western readers. It's a time marked by the aftermath of wars and isolation, where the young protagonist, immersed in a dreamlike state, grapples with the harsh reality of loss. Refusing to accept the passing of a girl he loves, he embarks on a quest to reconnect with his lost love, delving into ancient beliefs and forgotten lore, daring to cross into unknown realms. Despite its themes of loss and longing, the story radiates with joy and humour, painting a vivid portrait of life in a unique and extraordinary society. The narrative offers a perspective seldom encountered by Anglo-American audiences: a protagonist who, despite his education, finds himself helplessly caught between the contrasting worlds of the West and the East, the present and the past. This tale is a genuine testament to the resilience and spirit of an individual living on the fringes of Europe, navigating the complexities of love, tradition, and identity.
What happens when you find yourself living a nightmare that you thought only happened to other families? Or that you thought only ever happened in a TV drama? The Spencer family are a hardworking, unassuming, contented, ordinary family - a mother, a father, and three offsprings. Nothing different from anyone else. Until one night, a tragedy unfolds, and their ordinary lives are thrust into total disarray. What they all once knew has all but gone, and now their lives are one big sequence of hurt, upset, uncertainty, and, above all ... hope. A roller coaster of emotions that seem to have no end. This story expresses courage, strength, love, and what can happen when a family pulls together and never gives up hoping.
This book serves as a guide for those grappling with the complexities of religious faith, drawing from the author's own profound journey through doubt and belief. It challenges the concept of an eternal, detachable soul, positing that our consciousness is entirely born of cerebral processes. The absence of such a soul, the book argues, casts significant doubt on the foundational promises of eternal life in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Furthermore, the book advocates for a life lived with full engagement of our human faculties. It suggests that authenticity in life is achieved by operating within our own realities and embracing the responsibility of fulfilling our own needs and desires. It is a call to live deliberately, using our innate attributes and experiences as the primary tools for navigating existence.
How come Shakespeare keeps challenging and fascinating us? Why do we keep watching his plays and reading his poetry? Maybe because he knows us so well. His irresistible, playful comedies, full of love and joy, show us at our happiest moments, his tragedies show us the darkest dungeons of the human mind, and his romances have this strong and wonderful tone of reconciliation and forgiveness, that we all need now and then, and his poetry lends words to the deep feelings, that we all know. Kitter Krebs takes the reader on an exciting journey into European culture through her insightful readings and deep interpretations of Shakespeare's great work. She shows his deep roots in the past, but also the great enrichment Shakespeare has to offer to our present and perhaps to our future.

The Ox Is SlowThis is a tale of two families and it is here where the similarity ends. From the 15th and 16th centuries, the Belmont family culture had been based on military leadership, with its aristocratic identity conventions. In 1830, Pierre Belmont was acting as a military advisor to the French court of King Louis Phillippe. Satisfied with their lifestyles, he could envisage no serious alteration to his and his family's way of life.At that time, John Marshall and his wife Caroline were living in England, near a small Norfolk village named Walpole St. Peter. Born into poverty, John was an itinerant farm labourer, unable to read or write, with only a basic understanding of arithmetic. He, like Pierre Belmont, could see no reasons for his or Caroline's existence to change or improve. But, eleven centuries before, an ancient Phoenician proverb began to sew the threads of a human fabric that would have been beyond the imagination of both these men.It was known as the Y Aphorism.

This is a story of one family, but it could just as well be the story of any family. A story with beginnings in different countries, in separate times, narrated by three generations. It moves through three significant historical events, the despair of the 1930s in Germany; the 1940s civil unrest in Ceylon; and the stifling fear of the 1970s in India. It is a story of the demands of class and caste, education and politics, wealth, and status in the lives of all people. It is symbolic of the pain and grief that all humans endure; the disruption they experience when their best laid plans go awry. But crucially, the innate goodness that lies entrenched in the human heart, causing it to rise above petty prejudices.

The Reichsbürger Movement (Citizens of the Reich) have been gaining momentum in Germany for some time. This was witnessed by us all in December 2022 when German Polizei raided several locations arresting leading figures within the country including an aristocrat, a member of parliament and military figures to name but a few. Almost half of arrests took place in the southern states of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. The Movement's strategy was to overthrow the current federal government and replace it using violence if necessary. "Reichsbürger Resurgence" commences slightly earlier in September / October 2022, as investigations initially focussing on a diamond smuggling operation soon progress into a credible threat of international consequence. It becomes apparent the Reichsbürger Movement have a sophisticated operation deep in the hills of Bavaria which following decades of planning as far back as WW2 is only days away from full implementation to not simply overthrow the Federal government but world domination their ultimate goal. The efforts of a small group of individuals faced with the task of preventing the success of the Reichsbürger plot is told here and just perhaps some of the information gleaned from these events aid the authorities in the near future. Fact can indeed be stranger than fiction at times!
