Rose City Tales. The following collection of verse includes short stories that were inspired from my recollections with events, fables and yarns that cover my upbringing while living here in Portland, Oregon. It's my intent to remember the times that meant the most to me and pass them down to others to enjoy. These stories are dedicated in memory to those that shared their lives with me (directly or indirectly) and in memory to those that helped shape these foibles. I want to thank my friends and family in helping create these stories, for their inspiration and love.

Success, happiness, love, appreciation, and respect. During the course of my 80-year life, I cannot remember meeting anyone who didn't want to obtain each of these goals, collectively a fulfillment of their lives, an affirmation that their lives really made a difference and meant something, and that their efforts were worthwhile. At the same time I know too many people who feel just the opposite, that they, compared to others, have been unsuccessful. And they are not as happy as they hoped to be. My purpose in writing this book is to uplift and help them. Never Stop Learning is a collection of 21 stories that I originally wrote for my 10 grandchildren, as helpful guidance to assist them in navigating life more easily and successfully. Subsequently, I became convinced that if my stories could help my family, then they could help many other people. This book is the result. Each story's purpose is to teach lessons defining the keys to unlocking success, happiness, love, appreciation and respect. Who should read this book? Truthfully, the ones who could get the most benefit are 16-35-year-olds because they have the most time left, maybe the greatest need, plus they are going through the years where they are making many key decisions in rapid order about education, careers, jobs, and perhaps marriage and children. But I truly believe anyone from 8 to 100 would learn from the book's lessons. I state this because some of my reviewers in their 80's told me so. This I know. None of us will ever know everything about most anything. We still have plenty to learn. Personally, I am never going to stop trying to learn. Like me, others still have that hunger for knowledge and understanding. I hope more will join us in that pursuit. Never stop learning. You won't regret it.

Love, fate, and family are the craziest of things..."As he unzipped her dress, Sam softly said, "Matthew, you are the only man who has ever seen me naked and not wanted to violate me..." Then, once he finished, Sam turned back around facing him and dropped her dress to the floor. Matthew turned the lock on his door and walked into her arms." After living twenty-one years in an institution of abuse, hatred, and forced submission with no knowledge of what love could truly be capable of can Sam find what her heart desperately longs for, what fate seems to have been pushing her towards, or will her brokenness keep her from Finding Love and Family?

This book is written for understanding the actual way and how of living by, with, and in a spiritual mind which shuts off the carnal mind. The Life of Jesus Christ in you is the WAY! I dedicate this book to humanity for a great life living in God and Christ.

In a redwood cabin in the middle of the woods live three bears: a baby bear, a momma bear, and a big daddy bear. One day before breakfast, they decide to go on a hike, never expecting the surprise that awaits their return. Curly Locks gets up early that morning, too, and goes for a run. After taking a shortcut, she ends up lost but finds her way to the three bears' cabin. She hopes to ask for directions but finds the cabin empty so goes investigating. She tries out the bears' chairs and beds and eventually ends up in the kitchen. When the three bears return home, they're shocked to find a girl with curly hair cooking them breakfast! These strangers sit together and chat, getting to know one another. Despite their differences, they're alike in many ways, too. Relationships can be built in unlikely ways, as Curly Locks and the three bears become friends for life.

The main aim of this poetry is to express some of the feelings that were created by the deadly Liberian civil crisis that led many dead, homeless and mentally disturbed, socially, morally, and economically imbalanced. The result of these conditions set heavy grief and frustration in my heart as the author of this book. Most of the poems have emotional tones because of the mood and personal experiences of the writer. However, these poems are intended to bring consolation and joy in the minds of its readers in order to let out bad feelings. I am aware that negative feeling, which includes anger, contempt, guilt and fear, must be minimized, if not eradicated in our daily lives.

Every religion on earth, godly or ungodly, Christianity, occultism, and satanic religions all respects blood and have something in one way or the other to do with blood. The Bible is a bloody book because blood is central to both the Old and New Testaments. After man sinned in the garden, the story of man's redemption has been a journey that began with the shedding of blood in Eden and ended with blood at Calvary. We have been taught about blood and how that blood is powerful. There are more religious songs about power in blood than any other subject, but what the church have not looked much into is the revelation of what makes blood powerful. Is it the usual red color of blood? Pre-suppose the blood of Jesus wasn't shed at all, will there still be any power at all in bloods in general that were shed before the crucifixion of Christ? This books takes the reader on an intriguing journey about mysteries in blood from a biblical perspective.

This book follows the devotional theme of other books I have written over the last few years (Unraveling the Revelation, Prayers from the Psalms, Reflections on Romans, and Reflections on the Gospel of John), but with an added feature. At the end of each devotional passage there are four questions which can be used for discussion by Sunday School classes, home Bible study groups, or for personal reflection. This enables the reader to probe deeper into the truth of the biblical text and provides challenges to varying opinions without dictating any certain result. The fact that the letters of Paul to the church in Thessalonica are generally considered to be the oldest of the New Testament writings, combined with the reference from Acts 17:2 that Paul was only able to be with the church for three Sabbaths before being literally run out of town, makes this study all the more amazing. That the church survived after such a riotous beginning, let alone flourish as an example for the ages, proves that it truly was a miracle of grace. If God could produce such wonderful results in a place that from all outward appearances had no real chance to succeed, then surely churches today all around the world should take heart and believe that He can also do in our stations of worship what He did then and there. Any church that is struggling to grow or even survive can find hope in this ancient letter from the first missionary Apostle of Jesus Christ, our brother Paul.

As a string accidentally slips away from a young girls little hand, a balloon starts a journey to a far-a-way land. Flying high way up in the sky, it soon meets a rainbow with magic inside. As it flies through the rainbow the magic takes hold, the balloon starts to change and the story unfolds.

Kabbalah means "a receiving" and in our context, a receiving of a higher conscious experience that ultimately leads to spiritual awakening, which is a permanent state of mind where the emotions awaken to a higher experience of consciousness while the fabricated self that the mind creates surrenders as a consequence. Along with a discussion about what happens in enlightenment or spiritual awakening, and how to develop the mind using the path of Kabbalah, this book also discusses the meaning of God, an explanation of the Infinite as it applies to one's own personal experience, the question of Will, and the Male and Female parts of the Godhead, along with elucidating some difficult concepts and stories of the Bible and applying them to the Sphirot of the Kabbalistic Tree of Life. Lastly, this book provides some advice on how to raise children to be mystics and how to recognize a suitable mate or Shiduch using the Sphirot system of the Tree of Life of Kabbalah.

This book was written largely for the benefit of the writers children and grandchildren so they would know something of the life and hardships faced by their pioneering ancestors. It was inspired by their questions about our childhood and youth and their own memories of many visits to the Kansas farms of their grandparents and great grandparents. However, we think many other readers will enjoy learning something about what it was like growing up on a midwestern farm in the 1940s and 50s. A time that was in many ways much simpler but certainly not easy. We had the privilege of knowing personally grandparents and great grandparents who had lived through the many profound changes that occurred around the change of the century. Automobiles, tractors and telephones had only arrived on the farm about 30 years earlier and the grandparents' barns and garages were still filled with horse-drawn equipment and harnesses from an earlier era. Electricity and graveled roads only occurred after WWII in our memory and running water and indoor bathrooms were still not common on many farms as late as 1955. It was a different and changing world of which we were privileged to be a part. Almost all our relatives lived nearby, and neighbors all knew us and didn't hesitate to let our parents know if we were up to any mischief. We were expected to take responsibility, work hard, always be truthful, stay out of trouble, study hard and plant straight rows. All are excellent traits that unfortunately are not as valued today as they were then. In the book we have shared some history of the area and some stories of incidents from our lives that were not uncommon among farm families. We hope readers enjoy learning about us and our families.

The Underground World of Beasleyville takes you through the life and adventures of a baby mouse, captured and released into the desert by people who live above ground called Topsiders. He finds adventure and friendship in an underground family of gophers as they collect things they need to run their town, that Topsiders leave out in their yard, and eventually leads him back to his own family.

Two Women and a Virus This is the story of two women, Susan and Anna, who have little in common. One is a scientist who studies dangerous viruses in Boston. The other is a mother and wife in an Amish dairy farming community in upstate New York. When a new virus affects the Amish farmers; it does not kill or even make its victims very sick. Its distinguishing feature is that it attacks and kills human Leydig cells, which only men have. Leydig cells make testosterone, and their loss has consequences, male infertility being one, loss of libido another. Like Covid, the virus is very contagious and spreads, affecting all aspects of society. The story is about the discovery and analysis of the virus, and the young scientists who do it. The story eventually brings the two women together. There are consequences-personal and professional-for Anna and Susan and their families. They meet, two stressed and exhausted people, and help restore each other. The way to deal with the virus is revealed but it is neither a vaccine nor a drug.

Stories of old were communicated interpersonally, conveying information necessary to our survival. This extraordinary power led to mankind's dominion over the world. Today, our stories are largely fed to us by way of our devices, our black boxes, which are incredible tools for spreading that same knowledge and wisdom globally. However, in the wrong hands, they are terrible weapons of misdirection, encouraging those under their influence to indulge selfish appetites and glorify victimhood, leading them to make the same mistakes that inspired those ancient stories in the first place. These stories shape the human mind to the same degree that we are what we eat, influencing the behavior of individuals and societies alike. Our shared stories, fantastical or otherwise, either reflect eternal truth and wisdom of the ages, or they do not, instead perpetuating a foolishly idealized form of reality. Put another way, they either prepare us for the inevitable obstacles of life, or they lead us to ruin. Such is the cunning of progressivism, an egregiously duplicitous philosophy that at first glance appears benevolent, but leads to devastating personal and societal consequences when put into practice. This book stands as a grand indictment of the illusion of progress, exploring how the seductive draw of its promises is nothing more than a trojan horse, a devil in disguise that threatens mankind's hard-won order over a chaotic world.

A young adolescent male desires to prove his manhood to his village. To be more of a man of importance, he takes a boat out fishing to out perform the men in his family to include his father. Instead of triumph, he gets lost at sea and experiences dehydration, starvation, hallucinations along with other tribulations amongst the dangerous shark hunting the waters.
