Within the pages of The Balondo-Ba-Konja History: The Elders' Narrative, Dr. Aja Oro, author and Balondo scholar, properly documents the history of his people, beginning with the evolution of the original birthplace of Balondo civilization in the Democratic Republic of the Congo region, including the events leading to its transfer from the Congo to Calabar, Nigeria (First Voyage), and from Nigeria to its present geographical location in the South-west littoral region of Cameroon (Second Voyage). He also details the concerted efforts made by his people to ensure cultural continuity in its natural form despite the intrusions of unsolicited change as made manifest in the "Balondo Wars."

This case was inspired by the work of three brave, diligent and dedicated detectives. Detectives Thomas Gallagher, Lewis Robeson, and Sergeant Ron Heffernan were working the Robbery division in the South Bronx in 1983 when a drug-addicted felon traded some info on a cold-case murder for a reduced sentence.Little did they know that they'd be spending their spare time over the next eighteen months tracking down all the details of the case -- starting with who was the victim, and finishing with a way to prove the case to the jury. Why did the chicken cross the road, you might ask? Well, my friends of the congregation; some people truly believe the chicken actually crossed the road merely to get to the other side. While other energetic human beings thought the chicken crossed the road, because, he'd heard Colonel Saunders was coming! Still, with my heart tenderly tucked in my hand, I'd like to tell you the true reason why this brave manly-man chicken crossed the road. "The real reason why the chicken aggressively crossed the road with style is that he wanted to lay it (his important message) on the line and this was the proper time to do just that, indeed!" There is no other possible answer, am I right? In this book, I'm now going to emulate this particular chicken by continuously laying my important messages on the line for you without needless worry. What am I going to place on the line you may ask? Well, now that you've asked me, I'm going to lay an absorbing amount of truth (common sense and philosophy) on the line, although, it may hurt your feelings. Guess what? I could care less! As a matter of fact, this author, this entertainer, this businessman, really does not care what you think of certain situations for this book is filled with a host of long overdue truths and now is the proper time to boisterously discuss our internal demons here and now! Of course, I'm talking about both of our demons. But, someone has to do it, right; so, why not me? Who else is going to take the negative feedback; again, why not me? Be sure to remember this when it's your turn in the barrel!

When I was working on my first book, "Everything's Rosy! The John N. McCain Story," about my Dad, I learned a lot that I did not previously know, and also learned a lot about my Grandfather, Joseph P. McCain, who I had not known at all. In fact, I learned enough to inspire me to continue researching his life with the goal of being able to record his life's history for future generations. I could see a lot of my Dad's character, work ethics, and principles that he had gotten from his father, even though he had passed away when his only son, John, was just 15. Dad is now 101, and these principles have been a part of his life for all these years, and I was hoping to uncover some of the sources.That also got me started working on several other books about people who had inspired me and been an influence on my life. The one person who I recalled influencing me most outside my immediate family was my uncle, Col. William C. Brewer. This book comprises an overview of Balondo phenomenology that could be seen as a welcome contribution to the growing body of cultural literacy in Africa as a whole where African cultures are continuously being displaced by the 'dominant' European colonial culture that is visible in the schools, churches, language, government, and business enterprises. In that light, its main thrust is to educate the world about Balondo customs that are similarly on the verge of elimination and total extinction. To accomplish that goal, the author who is a son of the soil has made an excellent first attempt in describing how Balondo in Cameroon deal and cope with their 'contractual' relationship with the social world and the spiritual world. Two worlds comprising humans and spirits wherein change is constant to the extent that it creates an atmosphere of uncertainty that forces people to either shift their alliance or invoke the support of a more powerful force to ensure balance and stability.
