About the BookAntarctica is a tale of adventure. The kind of adventure that comes after Paul Wellington and Billy Greene make the tough decision to leave their boring lives behind. A decision that took them down through the Americas, and placing them on the icy continent that surrounds the South Pole. Luck and the right connections got them there, but now it was their job to navigate the uncharted territory that lay ahead. The cold of the open plains, the warmth of the tunnel systems, and the mystery of the hidden caves only scratched the surface of the lore that was the ice wall. And now it stood menacingly in their way.About the AuthorPeter J. Motta was born just outside of Flemington, New Jersey. About the BookEverything Changed is a story about the wild, violent early days of southwest desert dope smuggling via the then innovative use of light aircraft. It depicts how huge profits were used to corrupt some cops, particularly local cops stuck in a dead-end job. The story also explores how the federal special agents of the then U.S. Customs Service worked clandestinely to disrupt and dismantle smuggling enterprises. The book is set in barren southern New Mexico right on the dangerous international border and it showcases how air smuggling and money transportation actually worked, how Mexican traffickers and their enforcers operated, and how a local family facing marriage problems could become unintended players and victims in the damage that narcotics trafficking always brings. This story is unique in that much of it is reality that has been gleaned from many different narcotics and dirty money and firearms trafficking cases that the author, a retired US Customs Special Agent, actually witnessed and investigated. The smuggling, trafficking and investigative techniques are genuine, and the story, although completely fiction, is realistic as it's built and compiled from the author's (and his colleagues') experiences and participation.About the AuthorKen Cates is the retired Special Agent in Charge, Department of Homeland Security-U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, having served 34 years as a criminal investigator with ICE, U.S. Customs and ATF. About the BookLaunching a scientific research mission to Mars is no easy task, but in The Barsoom Expedition, it is made nearly impossible by a shady group of powerful people who want to win the race to Mars and lay claim to it and all its resources.Bribes, threats, whipping up a phony religious outcry, sabotage, and even more drastic actions are taken to prevent Barsoom Explorer from staffing her crew. Captain Ian McMichael and his friend and former crewmate, Alexi Gargorin, a nuclear engineer, are tapped to lead a brilliant group of people, who were gathered and trained in secret to prevent outside interference or influence. After the Explorer launches perfectly with its unique propulsion system, it suffers one problem after another, from a mischievous ferret on the loose to booby traps set by saboteurs currently on board. Gifted pilots and sisters, Miriam Steinmetz and Rachael Purlman prove indispensable as each crisis arises, as do the other members of the crew-those not attempting to destroy the mission, that is. Outer space must be navigated gingerly and that precariousness comes alive in vivid detail in this epic story of humanity working toward a goal in an unforgiving environment and with bad guys breathing down their neck.About the AuthorCharles Howerton has a PhD in computer science and, before retiring, spent the last fifteen years of his career teaching computer science and software engineering at the college level. About the Book"I had no choice. They were going to torture you the same way but worse." Owen's voice broke. "But not as worse as Ephraim, the screaming, the pleading, every time I tried to talk to him he gave no response, just gave me a blank stare. His skin was pale, his head was cold and clammy, hair was untamed and greasy, stubbles, and underweight. I secretly followed them to the woods. I hid behind a tree where I saw Ephraim pleading with father that he didn't want to keep doing this. Father slapped him across the face, blood splattered on the cold, damp ground. He grabbed hold of his chin and forcefully made him look into the eyes of a very angry and very abusive father. I couldn't hear what they were whispering, but in the end, Ephraim held his head down.Just think of it this way, Ephraim," laughed Father. "When I mean "we" succeed, our legacy will be known through every generation. I saw that Ephraim wanted to cry, but crying in front of Father would get us a bloody beatdown and no dinner. And I can tell Ephraim wants to eat. I heard Father telling Ephraim that once this is over, all four of us will be unstoppable!"About the AuthorSamantha R. Hume is twenty-four years old and lives with her parents in Amsterdam, New York. She is the youngest of seven children and has struggled with autism and learning disabilities all her life.
