In this work, in order to model and analyse a simplified trophic network of the Venice Lagoon, I worked with the process algebra Bio-PEPA. This work shows that Bio-PEPA naturally permits the modelling of trophic networks and the analysis of their continuous dynamics. Different simulation and analysis techniques can be combined: discrete stochastic and continuous deterministic models can be automatically generated from a Bio-PEPA model. Specifically, it is possible to observe the dynamics of the populations of the species in a trophic network, understand the relationship among these species and predict the consequences of the perturbations of the ecosystem.
This book presents a novel approach for indoor localization that is based on the well know fingerprinting. This method is a two steps process. In the first step, also called training, a set of measurements (typically RSSI) are collected from reference points in the localization area and stored into a database (or radio map). In the second step, the online measurements are compared to the stored radio map, and the position is estimated through pattern matching techniques. The main contribution proposed, consist in reducing the quantization bits of the measurements (RSSI) up to 1 bit, therefore we get a radio map that is binary. We exploited the similarity between binary coding and localization by introducing the concept of Hamming distance to evaluate the training set and to propose a design strategy for an easy implementation of IPS.
Il testo si occupa di andare ad indagare quali sono gli effetti di due leve comunicative molto importanti nell'ambito dell'economia comportamentale, Social Proof e Framing, sulla propensione al rispetto delle regole e delle politiche pubbliche da parte dei cittadini italiani con riferimento al fenomeno COVID-19. Le diverse leve comunicative vengono combinate in messaggi di comunicazione diversi, che vengono poi testati. La trattazione viene svolta sulla base dei dati ottenuti tramite un questionario e utilizza come strumento di analisi dei dati dei modelli statistici di regressione lineare.Obiettivo finale è quello di andare ad individuare la combinazione di Framing e Social Proof, e quindi il messaggio di comunicazione, più efficace nel convincere i cittadini a rispettare le norme dettate dal Governo.
This book studies well-posedness of multidimensional stochastic differential equations (SDEs) driven by Brownian motion and with irregular coefficients, i.e., the coefficients are not assumed to be continuous and globally Lipschitz. Such singular stochastic equations are usually not included in the standard theory of stochastic calculus. As an application we will prove existence and uniqueness of solutions for a stochastic model proposed by the theoretical physicist Dyson in 1962. This model deals with the interaction of n particles in a Coulomb gas; indeed one considers n points charges executing Brownian motion under their mutual electrostatic repulsion; one can proceed until finding an equation which describes the motion of those particles.
